Hi all,

I got my IX FQ340 on Saturday, what a machine!! While my old car wasn't really slow, this is just nuts... Oh and hello to the bloke in the 8MR 320 I saw near Neston! Still getting used to this mate so couldn't toast it properly.. v. nice motor tho. Anyway, I had a good look around received it and it was all mint, didn't open the bonnet when I signed as it went just fine, I did have a look after he went though but didn't notice this then. Anyway, a bit later on I was showing a few mates around the car and one wanted to see the engine, so I open the bonnet and he says "**** me, what's all that rust there!? Looks like its come from a scrappy!" I was like WTF!? And he's right... is this normal??

Linky

As you can see it's spread from the manifold to that little pipe on the right, should I take it to my local Mitsi dealer and would they sort it out?? My local dealer is Gallaghers in Sandycroft, North Wales. They look like a proper antwacky operation.. anybody got experience of them? Or know of a decent dealer in the Cheshire/North Wales area?? Thanks in advance..

Marc

Not unusual to have some corrosion in that area but on a brand new car? :tsk: I'd take it to your local dealer & ask them to sort it under warranty. No experience of Gallaghers personally, I always use Browns near Preston who are excellent but it'd be a bit far for you.

If its been left on a forcourt in the damp and recent rain for a while then chances are it would have gone like that sooner (even if it is a new car) but nothing too worry about!

I put a newly polished tubular manifold on mine a month ago.. and already got rust spots around the joins.

Yep def worth taking back and trying though.. but bare in mind it wont be long before the new one turns the same again.

If it bothers your mates that much get it cermamic coated or heat wrapped :D
