Liddy Takes the Title at Cadwell Park
With an amazing turnout of 30 EVOs at Cadwell Park and being blessed with a warm dry Autumn day, the setting for the final of the 2016 Pace Ward MLRSS was perfect. Unsurprisingly it was the unlimited Turbosmart ClassD cars which set the top times in first practice with Liddy being chased hard by Reedy3RS, [email protected] and Baz25 with a best time of 1:19:51.
It was a similar story throughout the competitive runs too with Liddy holding off a determined challenges from Reedy3RS and Unobtanium, with Peeler headed the charge from all other classes putting his Class B Evo6 narrowly ahead of Blacky (ClassC) by just 0.13s, whilst Simonsevo brought his EvoV home to lead Class A ahead of RossW.
The Pace Ward MLRSS now takes a well earned rest over the winter but watch this space for 2017 Sprint news soon!

Phil Reed Storms Pace Ward MLR Sprint at Croft
'Storms' is not just an accurate description of Phil Reed's dominance at the penultimate round of the Pace Ward MLRSS on Saturday 3 September, but an equally accurate description of the weather which was less than ideal for the drivers on their first MLR Sprint visit to the Yorkshire touring car circuit. The rain started shortly after the practice sessions started and never let up meaning the track was sodden and 'full wets' were the tyre of choice - for all those able to use them, namely the unlimited monsters running in Class D! Unsurprisingly is was the top class that dominated the day with high power and increased levels of grip over the Class A, B & C cars, with all 5 Turbosmart Class D cars heading the top of the table, with Reedy3RS taking top spot with a time of 1:27:84

Turbosmart Class D: Reedy3RS - Evo 6: 1:27:84
RossSport Class C: Rodney - Evo 9 Wagon: 1:43:50
AP Tuning Class B: Peeler - Evo 6: 1:38:20
SuperPro Class A: BuckRogers - Evo 9: 1:41:63

Peeler Takes Fastest Evo by 0.11sec at Hethel
Wall to wall sunshine made the perfect setting for the 4th round of the Pace Ward MLRSS at Hethel based Lotus Test Track on Saturday 13 August. Sharing the day with the Imprezas from Whiteline 22BSS and the Nissans from the Litchfield GTRSS and a handful of Guest cars, competition was close throughout the varied field. In fact at the end of the day and after 9 runs (3 practice and 6 competitive) there was just over a second splitting all four class winners in the MLRSS with Peeler taking the laurels for fastest EVO on the day in his AP Tuning sponsored Class B Evo VI with a time of 1:25:02!

Turbosmart Class D: Greenstar - Evo 6: 1:25:13
RossSport Class C: AlanREvo - Evo 6: 1:26:17

Latest MLR Trader - Appreciating Classics
Appreciating Classics was founded by Rich and Steve in 2013. Both life-long petrol heads and started the business as a hobby; buying cars they like, enjoying them for a few months, improving them, and then selling them to fellow enthusiasts. What began as some fun soon snowballed and became a successful side line business.

Over the few years they have built a great customer base and an equally great reputation for dealing in only the best quality Retro, Classic & Future Classic cars. Being Japanese performance car enthusiasts and owning a low mileage future classic Evo VI, they were very pleased to become an official MLR trader.

Even if you are not in the market for an ‘investment’ vehicle, keep an eye on their stock lists for some serious nostalgia!

Greenstar Takes Fastest Evo at Castle Combe by 0.13s!
A damp morning welcomed all the drivers for the 3rd round of the Pace Ward MLRSS at Castle Combe, but as the day progressed a dry line developed and times on the leader board started to drop with drivers swapping places on virtually every run. There was close fought action throughout the field but the most hotly contested was Class B with MrG taking the win by less than a second ahead of Jamie88. AlanR snatched the ClassC prize by just .16seconds, whilst F1-RS romped home with the win in Class A. Fastest Evo of the day however went to Greenstar, but only by the narrowest of margins - just 0.13seconds, so all in all another very close days racing!!

RossSport Class C: AlanREvo - Evo 6: 1:11.95
AP Tuning Class B: MrG - Evo 6: 1:11:85

After a gap of several years, Rockingham had the honour of hosting to the final round of the 2015 Pace Ward MLR Sprint Series on Saturday 10th October, and with over 50 cars and competitors eager to tackle Rockingham's national circuit - the first time for most - it was action and battles from the start.
With Liddy electing to drive his Class A Evo7RS, the top spot was open for anyone and although BradGT got close in his NR Autosport prepared Evo9 (1:02:08), it was Class C champion Rodney who snatchec the win just 2/10ths ahead with a 1:01:88, and just a few tenths ahead of Peeler is his Evo IV who ended top of Class B with a 1:02:36.
The closest battle of all raged in Class A but was it was Greeny-O who finally lifted the trophy with a 1:04:17 ahead of F1-RS and OctaineJunkee.
HKS Europe Class D: BradGT - Evo IX: 1:02:08

However it was Liddy who got closest to a sub-60 second lap and lifted the trophy for FTD on the day ahead of Clavsnapt and EvoRich in ClassD with a winning time of 1.00:05!

A closely fought battle took place across all the classes as usual across a great day of sprinting, but eventual winner was MLaws driving BAZMR420s Evo7 to grab the honour of fastest Evo on his first ever sprint, so he left the day with two trophies for FTD and Best Rookie!

Greenstar Finds Grip and Takes FTD at Oulton Park
The second round of the Pace Ward MLRSS was greeted with a wet and windy morning at Oulton Park's rally circuit. As this course is slippery when bone dry, it was a baptism of fire for all the drivers, all of whom valiantly tacked the drying surface until some grip was found in the afternoon ad when times started to tumble. At one point it looked like the spoils would go to Richard Marples in his Class A EvoX - returning to the MLRSS after a long absence - but it was Greenstar who took FTD running his Evo6 in the top class shod with some sticky Avons! Congrats to all the winners, including Jonty234 who went home with Best Rookie at his first ever sprint!

Liddy Swims to Victory at Wet Snett!
The 7th and final round of the Pace Ward MLRSS travelled to Snetterton on Saturday 4th October for what turned out to mixed day of dry practice but very wet competitive runs, testing all the drivers to the full. The days started sunny and Liddy at the top of the leaderboard with RossW closely behind. However, the monsoon season started early and the afternoon played into the hands of those who liked the rain, but resulting in Rodney maintaining his 100% success rate in Class C, Clavsnapt snatching the Class B win on his last run of the day and Tyrant having a slightly easier day with OctaineJunkee sadly not being able to fight for the class A title on the day. Overall it was Liddy once again though who took the winners laurels with time virtually 3 seconds ahead of the others!

  Liddy Wins at Teesside Autodrome
The 6th round of the Pace Ward MLRSS returned to the twisty Teesside tarmac on Saturday 30th August, for the only afternoon/evening round of the year. Another full field of over 50 competitors were met with perfect conditions for the day's sprinting, and as expected the class D cars led the field and at the end of practice with Kenny1 in top spot in 53:38. However, Liddy sorted his gearbox gremlins out during the competitive runs and really turned up the wick to end the day a massive 2 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor Ross W.
HKS Europe Class D: Liddy - Evo 6: 50.22
RossSport Class C: Rodney - Evo 5: 53.29

RossW Takes First Win at Kames!
The Pace Ward MLRSS returned north of the border for the 5th round of the Series, and the narrow undulating course at Kames south of Glasgow. The usual sunny weather eluded this year's event however and the overcast start which almost lasted for the practice session soon gave way to rain, and lots of it! The battle for most of the day was between the drivers who'd travelled the furthest with RossW and Rodney battling it out in the dreadful conditions. However it was RossW in his immaculately prepared Class B Evo 6 who grabbed the top spot - the first he's taken the top step on the podium!
HKS Europe Class D: Simonsevo - Evo 3: 1:01:50
RossSport Class C: Rodney - Evo 5: 57,97
AP Tuning Class B: RossW - Evo 6: 57.29

Liddy Takes Second Victory at Lotus
The 4th round of Pace Ward MLRSS ran on the ultra fast Lotus test track at Hethel in mostly bright sunshine, although a brief downpour mid-afternoon caused some concern for a few drivers vying for top spot! With another vitrually problem free day though the main battle was between [email protected] and Liddy who's Class D cars were swapping places throoughout the afternoon, but it was Liddy who took the win on his last run of the day, beating Gary by 0.81s with a time of 1:16:30.
HKS Europe Class D: Liddy - Evo 6: 1:16:30
RossSport Class C: Rodney - Evo 5: 1:20:92

Liddy Snatches Top Spot At Blyton Park
Blyton Park's new Eastern circuit played host to the 3rd round of the 2014 Pace Ward MLR Sprint Series, introducing a very technical section to what was previously considered a 'big power' track, and instantly helping to level the playing field. With nearly 70 cars competing it was the unlimited spec Class D cars which ruled on the day with Dave Rowe leading at the end of practice in his Pikes Peak Evo 9, and it stayed that way until the very end when Liddy turned up the wick and found a few more tenths to snatch the top spot with a 1:00:83 from Dave's 1:01:18!
HKS Europe Class D: Liddy - Evo 6: 1:00.83

Rodney Victorious at Slippery Oulton Park
After the high speed circuit of Castle Combe, the 2nd round of the 2014 Pace Ward MLR Sprint Series moved North to the twisty and slippery Oulton Park rally track on Saturday 26th April. With showers being forecast all day the track promised to be a real handful, but surprisingly the sun shone (almost) all day and with drivers having up to 11 runs each they all had the chance to slash their times! After morning practice Liddy headed the leaderboard sharing Greenstar's Evo 6, but with the competition hotting up throughout the day it was Rodney who finally took FTD and RossSport sponsored Class C in his Evo5 with the only time to break the magic minute with a 59.48.
HKS Europe Class D: Liddy - Evo 6: 1:00.87
RossSport Class C: Rodney - Evo 5: 59:48

A massive field of over 70 Japanese performance machines went head-to-head in almost perfect conditions. After morning practice Norris Designs led the pack with a 1:09:84, being chased by WillG & APTuning, but after the 6 competitive runs, Norris slashed another 6 seconds off that posting a 1:03:32, over a second ahead Liddy's 1:04:62 in his new Evo6.

[email protected] Takes FTD at Castle Combe
Blistering sunshine welcomed the 65 drivers to the 5th round of the Pace Ward MLR Sprint Series at Castle Combe in Wiltshire on 31st August. One of the longest and fastest circuits in the MLRSS, it was always likely to favour the massive power of the ClassD cars so it was no surprise to see them seconds ahead of the field. Each class saw some fantastic battles throughout the day with places being decided by 100ths of a second, but victory eventually went to [email protected] in his Evo7 - all the sweeter for being his first podium and first FTD!
HKS Class D: [email protected] - Evo 7: 1:08:84

A Record Breaking Weekend at the MLR's 30-130
The weekend of 10/11 August witnessed the return of the MLR's 30-130 event and the breaking of RossW's longstanding milestone record of 5.84s. Steven Darley was the first to do so with a 5.76s in the 'Banana', but Ross fought back with an astonishing 4.91s, only to see it snatched by John Hanton in his SVM prepped R35 GTR with an incredible 4.63s. Sunday dawned and with it Andy Forrest in his 6cyl Impreza and after 3 runs the 30-130 title had a new owner, with an almost unbelievable time of 4.01s!

30-130 at RAF Marham Attracts 120 Car Shootout!
The next 30-130 event is now less than a week away. Created by the MLR to understand real straight line performance using Racelogic VBox data logging, 120 cars will meet at RAF Marham over 17/18 March 2012 to see who's fastest from 30-130mph. Saturday sees some of the highest horsepower EVOs and GTRs go head-to-head, whilst Sunday is the turn of the Imprezas versus the rest! Forget rolling roads and horsepower figures, 30-130 proves how fast these cars really are where it matters - on the tarmac! Will RossW in his Evo6 retain or beat his own record of 5.84seconds??!

      Evo X - UK Arrival
Paul Brigden, Ralliart General Manager for Mitsubishi Motors UK, confirms he expects the Evo X to be on sale in the UK from first Quarter of 2008.

The Evo X will not start production until August 2007 and the UK do not anticipate receiving any allocation until September 2007 at the earliest. Once in the country the car(s) will require ESVA, Product Liability testing and also undergo testing for “FQ” upgrades, all of which means that the first cars will probably be available in first Quarter of 2008.

      New MLR Logo
To help celebrate the MLR’s 10th Anniversary and raise the club’s profile yet higher, the MLR is introducing a new logo for 2006 - its third since the club's inception in 1996. However, for the first time it will also incorporate the strapline; “Evolution in Action” which we feel sums up the MLR very well.

We hope you’ll like it and will be keen to see the new MLR merchandise which will be available shortly – and includes decals, keyrings, tax disc holders and a completely new range of MLR clothing, all of which will be available online through the MLR Shop and at all the events throughout the year.

MLR 2006 Calendar - Out Now
It’s taken a while to pull it all together, but we’re pleased to announce that the new 2006 MLR calendar is available now. The calendar features a different design from 2005, but remains full colour double A4 landscape format, and highlights MLR members’ cars and MLR events throughout 2005.

Last year you may remember we sent all MLR members a copy in place of the Christmas edition of the MLR magazine – well this year the good news is that we’ve produced a 44 page Christmas edition of the mag, and the new calendar! However, the slightly less good news is that we regret we can’t do it all for free, so the calendar will be sold at cost through the MLR Shop; £2.50 for members and £4.00 for non members.

      Mitsubishi Concept-X
Although it's not due for release until mid-2007, the Evo X is already causing much speculation after Mitsubishi recently unveiled the Concept-X. Could this radically different looking concept car be the new Evo X? Chances are it won't be too far away, but only time will tell.

The MLR are lucky to have managed to get hold of a press pack from the 2005 Tokyo Motor show. For all the Concept-X press pictures and the press pack just click here.

Amazing New Norris Design Demo Car
The MLR were recently invited to Norris Designs for an exclusive preview of their new demo car, click here for a brief rundown of the car and some pictures as the final build nears completion.

With a power to weight ratio of nearly 800bhp per ton, this Evo is almost 300bhp per ton more powerful than the old Norris Design Evo 7 demo car!!

To build an Evo this light has meant the car has undergone some major weight loss and incredible engineering, including a substantial amount of the bodyshell being removed to make the car shorter and lower. In fact it is 10inches shorter and 3inches lower than a standard Evo 9 shell. With the shell customised this much, the rear doors have been removed creating the world's first Short Wheelbase 2-Door Evo....

A Wet Haynes, But Still Good Fun
The recent MLR sprint at Haynes proved to be a little too wet for any new records to be set, but was still great fun. The conditions did allow for some fantastic driving and didn't affect the battle between MT-Evo and [email protected] for top honours.

Congratulations to MT-Evo for putting in a fantastic lap to take overall 1st place. Cryptwalk again walked away with best Group B time in his MR FQ320. Well done to RichW too for the fastest 0-64ft time of the day on his 1st visit to Haynes.

Want To Know How Quick The Evo VIII FQ400 Really Is?
Or how an FQ400 performs compared to a £14,000 cheaper FQ340?

In conjunction with Datron Technology vehicle testing equipment, the MLR has the answers. The MLR has compiled a detailed breakdown of an FQ400's performance and how it compares to an FQ340, comparing how an FQ400 and FQ340 performed through a series of in-gear and through-gear acceleration tests.

We think you'll find the results very interesting. Click here to read the article.

For a list of all the results click here or for pictures and videos of the day click here.

July's Haynes sprint has already sold out and [email protected] will be looking to take the record back. The MLR's Haynes Lap Board can be found here.
