Webbie,

Any chance of getting all those useful old threads from this forum back after the server crash? Or are they lost forever (sob).

Steve.

I'm afraid they're gone forever [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/sad1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e2-->

Hopefully Force9/Plusnet will prevent any re-occurences. I download the whole UBData directory once a month and it takes nearly 2 hours!! If I find time I'll try to get the server to make a backup of the directory onto itself once a day.

Sorta OT but are Plusnet any good? (Obvious recent problem apart!)

I'm thinking of plumping for them for access until BT sort out my ADSL and have heard quite a lot thats good about them.

I have a Plusnet account after having loads of crappy others, BTinternet, Lineone...etc. etc.
Without a doubt it is the best one so far. You may pay more than other accounts but its worth it. If you want to host a decent website then Plusnet is for you with extensive features. You even get your own FREE co.uk URL of your choice (Off peak or 24Hour package).
They are hopefully going to bring the prices down even more soon and improve the system access by ditching the last 'snag' - BT Surftime.

Yeah, the surftime ******** is whats putting me off. I assumed the 'free' .co.uk domain was similar to FreeNetName i.e. they own the name and you can't transfer it without paying 90 or summat [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/sad1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e2-->

<a href|EQU| http://www.jings.com target|EQU| _blank ><!--autohttp-->http://www.jings.com</a><!--autohttp--> looks OK too, Iomart backed and 12 quid/month for off-peak with only a month's termination notice.

I was with RedHotAnt and certainly got my 60 worth out of them, but not having unmetered access is a real pain once you're used to it!
