View Full Version : Ingliston Sprint Vbox Analysis
Thanks to those who sent me their Performance Box data. I've managed to get some data from most of the fastest cars on Saturday.
First graph below is Madmac and John@Evobreakers comparison of their fastest laps. Lap times will not quite equate to what was recorded on the day as I have estimated the start and finish lines.
Even though there was a 1.6sec difference on these laps, there's not much that actually separates the two. John and Madmac are virtually together (0.15sec) coming out of the hairpin, but down the straight and under braking Madmac draws out a massive 2.2sec advantage in just 180m .
However, into the last half of the lap it's very close, but overall John claws back 0.6sec.
Good results for a class 2 car
Some decent driving from Johnboy there!!
Can you do mine and johns please Dave.
Having a bit of a nightmare with the Circuit Tools software. It struggles with sprints and better suited to circuit racing.
Here's John and Blacky's fastest laps. Overall gap was a few tenths closer, but I've had a problem aligning the start.
Blacky red, John blue
Very backwards and forwards lap, but resulting in a very close time. John's strong finish to the lap helps again.
Can you do mine and johns please Dave.
Here you go. John red, Peeler blue. It's the 2nd half of the lap again.
This was your last lap file, VBOX0027
And John and Jamie. John is red again.
Some really good results there thanks for all the work Dave.
Jon.
Thanks Dave:smthumbup
Really interesting. John was fairly rapid in that last section!
Good stuff Dave, very interesting to see how much madmacs times made up on the straights:handsup:

You were fast.....your car spools well....you were 2nd....DONE!
Can someone help me understand these graphs.
many thanks
john
+ 1
i don't understand if the line is higher is that faster or later braking  or neither
looking at it pick a peak
the higher the peak the faster the car is going,
with braking if the blue peak is in front of the red peak then blue is braking later
with peelers and johns looking at the middle peak (highest) john manages to go quicker but brakes marginly later that john
at least thats what it all looks like to me
Thanks for taking the time to post these up Dave. Very interesting :smthumbup

Your car is too fast. I would whup yer ass in a gokart.

John, come and see me at the next spring and I'll explain them.
Each images contains 3 graphs. The first is speed of the two cars. Higher the line, higher the speed. It goes up and down as your car accelerates and brakes as you'd expect.
The second is accel and brake g-force. It's a really good way to see how hard cars are braking and accelerating and when.
The last line is the delta or time difference between the two cars through the lap. The centre line of that graph means their is no time difference between the cars. As the line moves away from the centre the gap is growing.
Very basic sorry, but only have a few mins right now.

Just wondering, Dave- was that Logan's final lap you've shown? It's just the time delta looks a long way off for 0.02 seconds difference (John 56.97, Logan 56.99). Also there's a lot of deceleration before they cross the line?
Or like you say, is the software being a bit awkward... or am I reading it wrong?
Think it is Dan, just that he can't quite align them 100% I am having same issue with my own runs as you have to approximate start and end points with time...but some how it doesn't 100% work...annoying!
It does still show where time was lost and gained....John was very strong in the last tight corners, my guess is his was in 2nd whereas I had to use 1st
Thanks for taking the time to post these up Dave. Very interesting :smthumbup
Nearly 110:eek:that's shifting:smthumbup
The comparisons have confirmed what i've been thinking all along - i'm not pushing Tiddles very hard in the corners! Mind you, Ingliston was the first time i've driven her on an open track this year, with few things to hit and shows i definately need more seat time
Nearly 110:eek:that's shifting:smthumbup
two years ago with 400bhp my car struggled to do much over 80 on the longest straight-thats a phenomenal difference in speed:eek:

Well the awnser to this is quite easy,,,, the track suited a small, fast spooling turbo like mine. MadMac had something better than this though he had the best of both worlds and the times show this.
How did you 2 get on that day?

What spec is your car? what tyres were you running and at what psi. Do you run track geometry? or is it a road car you had a go at sprinting in?
