How can i tell difference between Evo 7 ,8 and 9 if the bodykit can't!!!

if the car did have extensive bodykit change how can i tell difference between Evo 7,8 and 9 ?is there some sort of a engine code i need to look out for or is there something else ?

That link shows the differences and the chasis codes (CT9A 010 for VII,, 020 for VIII, 030 for VIII MR and 040 for IX).
