View Full Version : VI RSII....any info on this car anyone??
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1249930.htm
Might pop down to have a look at this on saturday providing nobody tells me of any known horror stories about the car. Obviously aware of the clunking, but will have a good look at it when im there. With a bit of luck will just be a driveshaft and not the diff :)
He says clunking when turning, could be sheared diff bolts in the trasfer box. Not rediculously expensive, just need to change the bolts if not driven for long in that condition. Sheared transfer box bolts will be approx £350 to sort out (inc parts & labour) IIRC.
Have a read of this.... http://www.lancerregister.com/faq_f05.php
You can use that knocking as a bargining point to try and knock him down in price.
Nicely, cheers for that :)

£350
I bought some 12.9 bolts ages ago for alot less than that, admittedly I only needed 4 of them, but had to buy a big bag, but even so it was still alot less than that.
I sold the rest on to members on here.
Even if you paid a tuner to replace them with 12.9 versions it would be alot less than £350 to repair.

Click the FAQ link I posted, this is what it says at the bottom....
Approximate cost of repair:
£250-£500 inclusive (approx. 4-5 hours labour)
I've not personally had it done, so can't comment, but depending where you take it they may well charge about £350. All depends on how much they charge per hour and how long it takes 'em to do it.
If a garage charges £50 an hour + VAT and it takes them 5 hours that's £250 + VAT = £287.50, then you have the price of the bolts themselves on top.

Seriously cheap for an RSII - give it a good check over underneath for rust etc :)
Did RSII's come with electric folding mirrors?

Chav make sure that's not the one posted up on here a while ago. A silver RS11 was pictured in a car park smashed up and then put up forsale as mint. I'd check cos you don't want to buy another RS 4/5/6
Just done some digging on this car......The lad bought it off ebay for £6000....on the 8th september.....now has it for sale for £5995......why would someone but a car, the sell it for what he paid for it........remembering that he is trader.
Seems he wants rid because there is more wrong with it than he is letting on!!
My thoughts also, maybe the transfer box is ****ed altogether.
Jon
Thats what im thinking jon. My money is the diff has had it. In which case i wont be offering any more than £4000
A new box supplied and fitted cant be far off £1000 and if the gearbox is f'd, what kind of life has the engine had.....??!! Might be giving this a wide berth!!

chav just get one bought instead of fannying about it don't matter what you buy something will break thats what evo's do lol
there is just something dodge about all them pics... it just dont look right... why is is parked up so close to that bush when he has a full carpark?? and why does it look like its not sitting evenly on a couple of them...... ESP pic 5,, and there is a slight green glow under it on some of them
On the 5th or center pic on the piston heads advert the car looks to be leaning, theres no wheel on it by the looks of things and the shadow looks like a stand holding the car up.

I think this is the same car i went to see in january. advertised on ebay. drove from glasgow to birmingham, the guy kept me waiting in an industrial estate for an hour then directed me to a yard where it was. it had the same clicking noise and the rs steering wheel which was on the car was hanging off. i drove it 200 yards and turned back that was enough it was the worst evo i had ever driven. had to restrain myself from choking him. but he then claimed it was his brother in laws car who was abroad working and nothing to do with him.
