Come again?
i said no way its defo been in a major smash other memebrsof hear user names lgevo j88hnb p23rab evo4polly and me all seen teh damage on it big time
and teh damage was on the drivers side
You said it was a cat c, then you said it was the passenger side, then the engine bay is a mess, now your saying the front was smashed too and looked terrible?
Those pics dont show a messed up engine bay or any damage to the side passnger door mate. It's HPI clear, and maybe driven a bit wild but how do you know any second hand car was not...even in Japan
Little concered you said all that stuff, but you changed you mind on the damage each post you put????
To be fair the car does seem like its had some sort of body work done. if you look at the pics simon's uploaded you'll notice that the drivers side wing does not line up perfect with the bonnet.
dont get me wrong, its a lovely looking car but id say its bin in a hit by looking at simon's pics.

Maverik, I like the look (except the wee scoop)! Get it checked out so you are happy with it and go play!
Well I have only put down a 200 pound deposit and suppose to be picking it up end of this month.
Apparently it has an evo 5 head as well as it had about 3k worth of engine work done.
Paying 3700 for it, but now worried it has been smashed, and fixed without insurance involved.

Text comes up clear too, chap selling said he HPI'd it and it came up clear.
Who would repair major damage out their own pocket then sell it for pennies (If he was asking 2.5k) as to be fair I could strip it down for parts and make more even if it is crashed.
Maybe it was damaged but just superficial.

Hope all turns out for you whatever you do.:smthumbup
Have you checked the for sale section on here?
Bah so disappointed

I live in rawtenstall and I also spray and repair cars, I can have a look with sniper if he's going over.
3grands alot to spend on a angine, what exactly has it had done? does he has recepts? alot of people bull**** about how much they spend on cars, my mates just bought a evo 6 with a £4000 ECU haha ye right its stock!
maverik - i had similar situation a few days ago - put depost down then hpi'd to discover cat c. guy has now returned deposit as he went to previous owner and he confirmed the story (owner seemed gutted). may be more difficult for you as no hpi to show that you "shook" on a "different" car so to speak. However even if i was not getting deposit back i think i would still have walked away - there are plenty out there and better to get a straight one. - just my 2p
cheers and good luck

Well it says it has a evo 5 head and loads of other bits replaced (3.5k receipt) manifold and rad you can see.
So bloody gutted I should take more care to detail, thought it was a bargain at 3700 with the extra's

£20 to cover fuel as its about 50/40 mile I think, and I'll go and check it out for you mate, it might be next week tho as im going scotland sat on sat.
I can see if the panels have been changed, whats been painted, if all the panels line up and underbody rust.
Do any mechanics want to come with me to check the engine ect?

its ten year old mate, every evo I looked this time has had bodywork done, even the owners didn't know, but its my job so i can spot it.
As long as its repaired properly and there's no chassis damage it should be ok, upto yourself.
No rush, I was not picking it up till then end of the month, engine seemed fine, no smoke or rattles, no gunk in oil or anything
If you have not viewed the car and just left a deposit over the phone you can get your money back 100%
distance selling act:smthumbup
No worried if it was crashed as long as it's not anything on the chassis even if it needs a little tidy up, I am concerned about safety

I viewed it, lifted boot carpet looked at the arches all looked ok, engine was fine as far as I made out no rust.
Thought excitment (big kid) and talking did get in the way so bloody stupid :wallbang:
dont waste your money mate, when your buying a car like this you want it to be as straight as possible.
Though it might be a good thing, goes to prove that a HPI report is not a true indication of it's past.
I could buy one thats deemed to be straight and true and could be a lemon, I will see what second opinions are when Rob kindly views the car and take it from there, as I really like it's look.
isnt that what all IV's look like.

Car comes up clear on HPI
No the car was put in px, this is a car dealer who is selling it..
Daz sold this car about a month ago on ebay and it wasnt done through him p/x it for something else so whoever bought it has got rid of it fast.
My boyfriend said the car was just fixed when his mate bought it after being in a crash, he got the car very cheap. In the time he had it the back diff went bang, the timing also slipped as well, This has all been in the space of the past month or so.
What i cant understand is why someone would buy the car, fix it then get rid of it as its up for the same price it was sold for.
There is a dent in the passenger door and the back quarter is supposidly rippled. The slam panel also is pushed back slightly i was told.
This is all we know about the car but what simon has said is all correct.
Up to you if u buy it and it possibly has been fixed but its had a very hard life.:)
If it was so badly damaged it could be a ringer ;)

Mate this is the best forum in the world and the people on here give good sound fair advice and actually care about other people making mistakes that i have and others have made in the past. Learn from these people and let this car go to someone else.I know what its like when the money is burning a hole in your pocket but sit tight and buy a car which will last. I have owned an evo 4 before and £10,000 later i got the car i wanted...blown engine etc etc.....walk away from this car. My 2 pence worth but i see de ja vu of me buying my first evo 4 from bradford what a mug i was

Its illegal to trade cars from a private address.
Walked away , now going to try and get my money back, offered to send someone round to look at it, which was fine until I said today and they said they could not get the car there (first said it was fine) so told them I would send someone round to the house/trader address as car is there, and apparently he cant be about till later, although he is a trader and has a brother. Very annoyed I have been bummed on buying my first Evo.:wallbang::goingmad:
But a MASSIVE thank you to Simon 16v and LGEVO, if we meet at a show I will buy you a drink :smthumbup

Part time trader lol, the guy puts his cars for sale on ebay, Im sure his name is 5ubaru or something, he's forever selling Evo's etc
Im pritty sure this car was for sale on pistonheads a couple of months ago up here in Scotland for 2.5k.
If you want a cheap evo I'll sell you mine lol.
Right sent him a text saying I wanted the deposit back, as under the circumstances it was only fair and the right thing to do. He first said no, non-refundable deposit, he said it had cost him money as he took off the add.
I then reminded him he changed the add and did not take it off, as the proof is in the link I posted earlier it came up with an evo 5 lol
This is the exact response.
"Accept it or not its your decision, i've had to take the car off because it HAD sold deposit is no refundable as I have rejected any offers from people after you had come. I've lost out mate on 3500 quid, not you.. Neither am I happy about this situation so I think you should cut your losses as I have too.."

This right? I thought you could be a part time trader. Don't you hate it when you get that pit of the stomach feeling having just bought a car? LOL
I bought my VI from a 'part time dealer' from his home. I think i'm lucky cos I got mine for a reasonable price, fresh import, but wasn't aware of rules re traders.

PS dont buy that IV, something doesn't seem right about it. :shake:

Why do people even bother to meet in car parks to buy cars astounds me.
As someone who's planning on getting an Evo in the next 12 months, its great to see how much information you managed to get on the car.
I got stung on a Porsche 928 S2 7 years ago... I was 22 and had £4K burning a hole in my pocket... turned out to be a bit of a dog, I kept it for 4 year but was always chasing things on it. I wish there'd been a forum like this :-S
Good luck finding another one Maverik :-)
