Very limited availability of this outstanding product from Carbonfx.

Carbon fibre effect dash inserts, 2 piece kit to replace the main dash panel incorporating the heater vents/clock and the smaller one incorporating the ACD/electric mirror switches.

Do not be put off by the word 'effect', the finish of these panels is outstanding and considering the quality and price it is by far the best way to transform your Evo's interior.

Fitting is simple, these are a direct replacement part, simply pop out your old inserts and replace with these.

Inserts sold on an exchange basis*.
(We must receive your original inserts by return in excellent condition and with no broken clips etc. or else a surcharge will be made.)

The cost of the inserts on this is basis is just 145 plus delivery.

* conditions apply.

Yep, I've been after a set since I bought the car, those blue rubber inserts are :blah: .

God knows why the 7 FQs have the carbon inserts and the 8 FQs don't.

I guess it might be due to the increasing cost in it between the two models?

Just put mine in, fit is perfect (I guess they are just painted original parts?) and look cool!

Will pass for carbon except on close inspection and are a damn sight better than the original blue ones (the only blue part on my entire car!)

Now I just wish I could get my instrument panel surround back on properly!?!

scottl

Whats the prob with the instrument surround? I may be able to help.

Hi Scott, I think the main problem is I'm an idiot!

I can get the top part so that both screws go back in without any any problem, but I cannot for the life of me get the bottom part to go back in so it sits flush with the instrument pod?

I'm sure it's the way I'm putting it back in, because the dash panels are in perfectly.

I've tried to get it back in in every way I can think of, but it still sits about 7-8mm off of the instrument pod at the bottom?

Is there a technique to fitting it back in? Top in first then hinge bottom in etc?

scottl
01-03-2007, 21:22
I would drop the steering column to the bottom, locate the bottom edge first then the top should pop straight in. Hope this helps!!

youngsyr
01-03-2007, 21:25
Cheers Scott, I think I've been pretty much trying it the other way, i.e. locating the top edge first and then trying to get the bottom in.

I'll give it another go tomorrow evening.

I'll also get the parts I've taken off in the post to you, although this might not be until early next week as I'm out all day Saturday at the WRC rolling road.

scottl
01-03-2007, 21:30
Yes we are in the process. I actually have one which is going in our demo car, then the next lot will be ready in a few weeks. I must say, the gear lever surround is my favourite part, looks :coolsm: as.

Are the 7 FQ300 ones carbon effect aswell??

Scott, forgive me as I haven't read the thread fully but are these complete replacements of the original ones or are they an overlay? Are the originals easy enough to remove?

scottl
07-05-2008, 09:05
They are a complete replacement part, we would need your old ones as exchange. Removal/reftting is simple, and instructions are provided.

The VII FQ300 dashes are proper carbon (the only model that were, afaik).

Scott's ones are full replacment parts, and the originals are easyish to remove and replace. The only slightly tricky part is removing the ACD/window switch from the small panel to the right of the steering wheel to replace it in the new carbon effect one, as the pegs are a little bit fragile.

brucef
07-05-2008, 10:11
Got any instructions on how to remove the panels? If the fq300 ones had been carbon effect then I'd have had these but now I think I'll just have my original grey ones repainted.

youngsyr
07-05-2008, 10:24
IIRC, you have to ease off the stereo surround (held on by pegs, try giving it short sharp tugs), undo two brass screws holding large dash panel on, undo two screws in top of instrument cluster surround, ease out surround top first and the large dash panel should pop out (may be one more screw, but should be visible).

For the smaller panel I think once the instrument cluster surround is off you should be able to ease it out, as it's held on by pegs?

Then you've got to get the ACD Switch out, which is a delicate job with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease the pegs out of the holders.

I'm sure Scott can elaborate or correct if necessary.
