Nope found another way to change them. Un-bolt the arch liner then reach inside and change sidelight. I had to do it anyway as i had a blown bulb. Bit fiddly but better than taking the bumper and lights off.... :D

The 'simple' way of changing sidelight bulbs on evo 7/8/9...

Theres a few screws and clips holding the wheelarch liners in place,
undo a few at the bottom front of the liners,
pull them out towards the wheel, (helps if you have the wheels on full lock, facing away from the side your working on),
then here comes the fiddly tricky part,
whilst pulling the liner away, shove your hand up,
whilst cutting your arm open on the metal brackets stuck onto the behind of the liner,
reach up and undo the sidelight holder,
half a turn anticlockwise i think it was.
Then change the little bulb, (which is also a pain considering there isnt enough free wire to pull it out of the arch area to change the bulb easily-typical!).
replace bulb holder,
and wheelarch liner/bolts,
then swear thats the last time your gonna do that and that mitsi are w**kers, then do the other side!!
....then wash your cut and bloody arms!

hope this helps, its a worthwhile transformation!
(although i changed mine to amber sidelights for the 'import' look...(i have the 260).

i did need to change one of my sidelights anyhow as it was blown.

Alot quicker doing it the arch liner way than taking off the front bumper.

Also can change your indicators that way aswell.

Dead easy mate there's nothing to it! The step-by-step guide on the previous guide is right, but it sounds alot more complicated than it actually is believe me! Get 'em fitted, you know you want to ;)

ive had no problems m8 and they show whiteish light light so should be fine.

Mechanic was telling me the otherday also theyre now fitting these leds from factory in lorrys and such like on the trailers as theyre forever changing the old peanut type bulbs as they burn out so fast.- I did noticle this whilst on the motorway the other night on various new HGV`S

Got the sidelights fitted today, and as promised, took some before and after pictures -

The first thing that struck me was how blue they appear, but combined with HID's these will be great, it now gives me an excuse to order them !

In answer to the fitting issues above, it's actually not too bad, as said previously, turn the wheel on to full lock in towards the car on the side you're doing, there are two trim screws that attach the wheel liner at the bottom, and a metal screw that attaches the wheel liner to the wing.

Undo all three of these, and peel the arch liner towards the suspension spring, then you need to visually see where the sidelight is positioned on the outside of the car, and feel inside to get the back of the sidelight holder, then turn the holder anticlockwise, it will come out with a slight amount of pressure.

Insert the sidelight into the holder, and then repeat the above step to locate the hole, and turn clockwise, then redo the arch liner, check the lights are working beforehand though !

If anyone needs any help with theirs, I will be at Japshow on the 24th of June ;)

i dont think fitting more HIDS would help, i think most cars when they are sva tested have the HID LIGHTS disconnected and halgoen bulbs put in place just to meet the sva requirements

HID kits for the evo 7 are no problerm weve just done a couple of sets this week actually for members theyre priced at £99.99 + delivery as weve just had a substantial price drop on these.

These are an excellent bargain for those still running halogen lights or those wanting HID in there full main beams or fogs to match theyre factory fitted HID lights on the evo 7/8/9

Fitting is very straightforwards really nothing to rewire it all just plugs into the cars loom (plug n play) fitment kit direct from germany, id say the hardest part is getting acess to the actual bulbs in the headlamps themselves which can be done by removing the archliners, :coolsm:

The reverse lights and no plate lights are no where near the headlights so i wouldnt worry over them, with regards to the headlights when on the sidelights cant be seen usually in any case as the sidelightys are much smaller and less powerfull.

The xenon ones should pass MOT unless you tester is an old fart, the blue ones obviously wont. Got to bear in mind theyre as used on most new cars buses trucks etc and even new audi models are now using white LEDS. Then again MOT tester rarely see new cars i suppose.

Take a look theyres many new vehicles with white LEDS as standard from factory right now. New mercedes for example and lexus. And of course new buses and truck trailer / HGV use white LED marker lights.

In fact by the year 201? all cars are going to be fitted with LED drl`s as part of an eu specification requirement for car manufacturing.
