View Full Version : Evo 6 RSX - cosmetic damage - 4k

21-09-2006, 17:04
My car

X reg silver evo 6 RSX.

45k miles.

Apart from damage to rear end, bodywork is immaculate.

This car is not on the insurance register as a cat D as currently there has been no insurance payout.

I have already replaced the car so will be having it assessed by an engineer and then selling it to allow the new owner to do as they like with it.

The engine has failed and I do not know if the engine failure has left the turbo in tact.

It also has a normal GSR rear diff and steering rack and not the RS ones as I have removed this to recover some money from the car. These are being sold separately, and I believe the diff has already provisionally gone.

I think I have pictures of the damage, and believe it can be repaired by someone competant for not a lot of money, but you can assess that for yourself if you choose to come and see it.

The car still has a full service history, and the impact was cosmetic to the boot bumper and boot floor. It should not need rejigging.

car can be viewed from next week in north london.

No pics available until next week when the insurance company return the car to me.

Can all those wanting pics please either post their email address or just pm them to me.

22-09-2006, 10:06
you have pm :D

22-09-2006, 15:04
all pms replied to.

I have also found someone who can supply nearly all the bodywork needed for 500 give or take.

Just needs labour and spraying.

Then it needs an engine and an ayc pump and you have yourself an immaculate condition X reg lowish mileage evo 6 RSX not on the insurance regsiter for under 7k.

PS. does now include spoiler as I have manage to track down its whereabouts between the insurance companies.

22-09-2006, 15:11
Do you want me to post the pics you sent me? :D

22-09-2006, 15:32
that would be great if you could.

Car also available for 6k with Full RS drivetrain.

Would need new engine and bodywork repair to be as new.

Can confirm this car is not classed as a cat D or Cat C. There has been no insurance payout on it as yet, and when there is I am certain it will not be considered a write off due to the cost of repair and therefore will remain off the register.

No damage to chassis legs, damage extends to a fold int he boot floor and a small impact on the back panel to one of the wings but nothing beyond that.

You have PM!

29-09-2006, 16:39
so does it need a new engine then will it be on the v-car register where abouts are you thanks

04-10-2006, 20:44
Is this still for sale?

04-10-2006, 21:17

05-10-2006, 11:06
update, it is still for sale, but that is due to me not having the car back from the insurance company yet in order that I can show it to people.

Once it is back there are several people wanting to come and see it. In the meantime I need an engineer to come and see it from the insurance company of the woman who hit me.

Once it is available for viewings I will contact all those who have pm'd me, and also post on here an update.

In the meantime, just to reiterate, The car is available with a gsr rear diff but not ayc pump for 4k, or with the standard RS running gear for 6k. Either way it will drive fine once the engine has been fixed/replaced.

05-10-2006, 16:02
further update.

I have now been in touch with the salvage agent and am working out a date when i can have the car collected.

06-10-2006, 09:57
Car is being delivered to me tomorrow, any viewings welcome from then on.

Car is in north london.

pm for details and arrangements.

06-10-2006, 10:19
Is it possible to clarify what happened with the engine? If the damage to the car was from a rear end shunt i assume the engine damage was not related to the accident? If this is the case can you explain any more about the engine probs, has the belt snapped, is it seized, etc.?

06-10-2006, 13:48
unrelated to accident.

big end gone, siezed I believe.

I would expect no damage to the head though it hasn't been opened so i cannot confirm that.

I also do not know the condition of the turbo as a result.

07-10-2006, 22:37
car back, not seized as it was driven on to the low loader!

I won't be starting it though as it may last a little while longer and be salvagable to some degree by the new owner.

am now accepting viewings.

hi m8 please call me 0141 332 1945 or 07786 831711 :D

09-10-2006, 10:35

to be fair, I have so many people to call, that it is getting difficult to keep up.

If anyone wants to call me to discuss this car, please feel free.

My number is 07977 127101.

The new insurance company engineer will be coming to look at the car this week, to assess its value for the purpose of giving me a payout on the damage.

As mentioned above, unless it is written off by them, it will not be on the register as the register is for total losses. Cars are only on the register if written off and then repaired by someone else after being bought off the salvager.

This car has never belonged to a salvager and no insurance payout for total loss has been claimed against this car.

10-10-2006, 19:55

16-10-2006, 20:22
assessor coming tomorrow.

since its the thrid party assessor, if they write it off, the salvage remains mine and the costs of the salvage is deducted from the payout for the car.

either way the car is available for viewings and collection from tomorrow onwards.

20-10-2006, 09:22
car has been assessed and is ready for sale.

viewings/purchase and collection available anytime.

hiya mate i take it as the assesor has written it off and categorised it as wot though?? :coolsm: :coolsm:

24-10-2006, 21:25
Can you show some pics of boot floor? & do you have a copy of the estimate? or can you list parts needed for damaged area?

24-10-2006, 21:39
bttt for a rare evo ;)

26-10-2006, 17:59
thanks lee,

basically the estimate is not a true representation of what is needed, because they need to give a belt and braces approach to the repair, and they have to pay vat on new parts from mitsubishi. The repair bill estimate are looking at somewhere between 5 and 7k officially. If you know people and can source the parts from places like jap performance, this bill would be more like 700 plus paint and labour.

If considering taking on this car, I would advise coming to see it and assessing the damage for yourself rather than rely on an insurance report which is made with totally differetn criteria in mind.

I have had a lot of interest from people who don't give a damn if it is a cat d or not, and have a few peole coming to see it over the next few days.

I am not in a rush to sell before monday as I have a major exam then and am moving house next week. All this and a 7 week old baby!

The RS running gear is still available with the car if desired. If sold without it I will sell the running gear separately.

I have pics available now from inside the boot showing the crash damage there. it seems the spare tyre has absorbed some of the impact and is now wedged in place in the boot. There is only a visible fold on the near side boot floor proximate the light cluster, the rest appears as normal.

30-10-2006, 23:11

exam over now, (think I failed) but am now in a position to receive viewings from anyone who wants to come and have a look to assess for yourself.

04-11-2006, 20:23

RS drivetrain and steering rack available.

04-11-2006, 20:29
what did you get for only 1 of 10ish

06-11-2006, 12:41
4k without a GSR drivetrain and steering rack.

Car will be converted to group A rally car.

They only wanted the shell and the ID.

Will be well and truley stripped!

Long time since ive been on here, and have to say its sad to see my old car, featured in Jap Performance, all bent up!

06-02-2008, 10:52
damn right it was.

It was in great shape, looking fantastic after the paintwork was ruined by the dreadful slagging, but some woman in a bmw decided she would rather shunt a 306 into me than stop in a traffic queue! :(

The car was a beauty, and was in fantastic shape.

Much as it was upsetting, the crash and the subsequent insurance and the sale of bits did enable me to buy an 8 with the proceeds.

As i cant PM you,, hope u see this or if anyone else see's it, pls give him a kick from me, tx

Was recently on the look out for another RSX and was checking to see if M2RSX was for sale when i saw that it had been crashed. Was gutted.

Anyways, was wondering if u still had the advert from when you sold the car with all the jpg's from the advert. Sadly i lost my NTL account so i lost all the files.

If you manage to find them, can u send them to via markwrighty4@hotmail.com

Cheers m8

I've never seen an RSX with RED dashboard clocks.
I have only seen red on RS's not RSII's ?
All the RSX's Ive seen have the white numbers...............
