I'm writing this in a state of aftershock following an incident last night.
Cruising (stuck in slow traffic!) on the A414 in Essex after a good drive, I became aware of three geezers in a white Orion (Cosworth I think).....right up my backside and very aggressive. Nothing unusual really, but rather than risk a rear shunt, I took an unusual detour down a bumby back road well-known to me.
And guess what.....the three amigos followed me, so I took off at full chat and that was that........until I got stuck behind a big tractor, forcing me to stop. Just as the tractor was making its turn into a farm, two geezers jumped out of the car and headed for me with baseball bats, or something similar, in their hands.....WTF!
There was absolutely no way they were getting my car.....or me. I always leave room for manoeuvre in tight situations, allowing me in this case to move forward 15 yards.....that saved my bacon and gave me literally just enough time to evade them before taking off as the tractor turned off the road.
I flew down the rest of the road (single track at times.....praying nothing was coming the other way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), finally reaching wider, open roads where I knew I was safe.
Got home shaken, but OK.....a few large whiskies soon helped, but it's only this morning that what might have happened hit me.
I know we should just step back when confronted and preserve life etc, but my worry is that I would just steam in with sheer rage at these thieving bastards who want to take my dream car from me.......I'm amazed that, through it all, I had no fear whatsoever, only focused determination to win at all costs.
Good Effort, don't let those theiving bas***ds get your pride and joy!! As this shows it is always a good idea to leave yourself room to get away from anything.
I agree, this is shocking, but you really dont know for sure what they were after, you would assume it was the car, but maybe not, so i definately think you did the right thing
SH!T MAN!!!! where along the 414 were you, i know it very well, i went for a spin that way a few days ago my mum and dad live that way, Ongar area, i think it's a MR 340 thing, their was a bloke a few weeks back got shot in the leg if i remember in Nottingham who owned a MR 340, hope thats right, correct me if i'm wrong, did you get any of the numberplate mate? so as to keep an eye out for these FU*KING FILTH
I'm not sure about the name of the turn-off, but it's right next to the garden centre on the 414.......single track for a bit, then comes out at Highwood......30 mph, then some excellent B-roads.
Sorry I can't be more specific.......I tend to know routes rather than names at the speed I drive!!!
You sure it wasn't Darin and some of his cronies chasing you for the membership?

mrs spike drives an evo 6, feeling nervous driving the car, the best anti-hijack device is called masai and for those of you who don't know her yet, she is a massive rhodesian ridgeback and the biatches complete baby and protector so no worries when mrs spike is out ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So if any would be car jackers fancy there chances go ahead punk make masai's day!!
that is shocking, lucky escape! things like that make you thing, and very more aware of things like that.
a friend of mine was at the cinema at middlebrook in horwich, getting back in his black evo6 on 19's with his girlfriend and a couple of guys come at him with a knife and got his keys/car off him.
good u got away, little thieving scrotebags!!! :goingmad:
joN
I wasn't sure where the A414 was, but just looking at the map, it's not far from where I usualy am when down that way.
I just wish that one day some chancer tries it to an Evo on a group meet or something...when the scum doesn't realise there is 20 more evo's behind ready to bring some justice.

We should all fit remote bombs in our cars and then at least if they did get it off you, you would have the satifation of watching them burn! (at a safe distance of course)
Glad you are ok mate and they neither got to you or the car. Always a valuable tip to remember is leaving a gap between you and the car in front when in traffic just in case you need to make a quick exit - and make sure your doors are always locked!
I had some scummers tail me a while back and it was only due to the Evo's speed and some local knowledge that I managed to loose them. Shook me up for a few hours afterwards

yeah, there was...altough i think it was at his house...he works at the same place as me...dont know him but heard the story....he put up a fight i think...but dont know for sure
tossers....cost us all an extra £500 to sticka tracker on...just for peace of mind eh....my wallet doesn't think so
Blimey some adventure.
Couldnt see anywhere in that story how you where so concerned about ''''almost being robbed'' that you informed your local plod about the happening.
Maybe prevent some other poor bugger getting robbed?
bast!rds Sorry to hear that mate i feel for you , i live in manchester and you have to watch your back all the time, i dont have an evo at the mo but i have a e39 m5 ( i am looking for a evo 5 or 6 Sorry to go off the subject) and i keep my doors locked all the time even if im with friends.
DBMFQ, sorry to hear what happened man, i think you did the right thing i mean if there were 3 of the scum with baseball bats, better off getting out of there while u still could!
My evo for some reason locks the doors automatically after i start the engine so that could be a good thing!
Only recently a friend had his cosworth taken outside his home near me and i have heard from others of scoobies and beemers being taken to order!!
Would have tried the same thing, so well done for shaking them off.
