Whats the minimum 'warranty' period??

I purchased my VI from an import garage recently, and he mentioned in passing something like...
"well i have to put a 3 month warranty on it by law" or something like that.

Is there a minimum warranty period that an established garage has to put on a used car? If so what would it actually cover.. im assuming engine/gearbox/drivetrain only excluding consumables?

Has anyone got an informed opinion/information regarding this? Would be great to know as ive got some problems, some of which he has now fixed, some which he seems more reluctant.....

Many thanks :D

I think, judging by previous experiences on the MLR and rejected claims, the minimum warranty period is as long as it takes to drive your car off the forecourt ;)

When u make a claim u will be amazed to find the whole car is a consumable!!

Have a look at the e mail below from CCC! I like this bit :"have very little warranty"

I bet porsche etc don't say this!!

Thank you for your e-mail received on 29 April 2004 in relation to the above
vehicle.

With regards to your warranty on the above vehicle, it must have adhered to
the manufacturers servicing schedule and had genuine Mitsubishi Parts fitted
and the book stamped, other wise if this has not been done, it will have
invalidated the warranty. The warranty is transferable.

The Mitsubishi Evo range are seen as high performance vehicles so have very
little warranty, please contact your nearest Mitsubishi Dealer (list
attached for your convenience) who will be able to advise you further in
this matter. You may need to take the warranty booklet into them and also
the vehicles chassis number.

Yours sincerely
