as were knew to the evo world some advise would be greatly appreciated.
its a evo 8 260 on a 54, its done 43000
we need to know what oil, spark plugs and anything else you would advise having done at this mileage, obviously the cambelt is due soon, do most of you use genuine belts or pattern ones?
also we want to modify it, can anybody advise good cams for the best bhp?
excuse all the questions just dont want to get anything wrong!!
thanks

Hi Vickie,

Welcome to the MLR. If the EVO your looking at has FSH then your next service will be due at 45000 miles which as you say is the cam belt, so is a big service and hits the wallet/purse hard. There are independent EVO specialists that will do this much cheaper than your standard Ralliart Dealer. Don't skimp on cheap parts regarding the cam belt, as if this goes, your engine is shot. Get Genuine Parts or aftermarket quality ones such as HKS.

Regards the spark plugs, if you do a search in the For Sale section, Huss at Performance Parts will do you a set of NGK Iridiums for peanuts.

Oil is down to personal preference, most use 5W-40, I personally use Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 but you can get good deals from Opie Oils (Do a search and you'll see) for Silkolene Pro S 5W-40, again another popular oil.

I recommend you spend £35 of your hard earned and join up as a member on here and take advantage of trader deals that crop up. You'll save a fortune and make back your £35 in no time. ;)

Oh, and enjoy :D
