Anybody has experience with the Spec-R & Cusco relocation kit? Which is better?
I am fitting a HKS downpipe with s.steel turbo elbow in conjunction with a Magnex decat pipe and exhaust system. I am told that is compatible.

The HKS downpipe will bolt onto the Magnex decat; but is the internal diameter the same? I'd check on that. Why dont you get a lighter exhaust than the Magnex? It doesnt look that good either (but it's cheaper) ...

Hmmm...

Spec R

Cusco

The first 2 obvious differences are that:
- the Spec R induction pipe is welded, not bent, and therefore air flow will not be as straight
- the Cusco still leaves the air filter in the warm engine bay; a panel to separate it a little is available at an extra cost, as pictured below:

I think the Cusco kit induction tube looks bigger as well. I do not know if this is good or not, but would suppose it is.

Finally, the Spec R box is 350 + VAT from PE. RC dont have the prices online AFAIK, how much is the Cusco kit? £50 for that panel someone said, right?

I'm told these relocation kits don't work so you could spend your money much wiser elsewhere ie more performance per £. :)

MT,
Can you elaborate as to why you have been told these kits don't work!!!!

Getting more cold air into the engine with less pressure drop surely has to be advantageous...... or am I wrong?

Exactly what I thought, but I was told not to waste my money. These things complete cost a lot of dosh for very little if any noticable gain.

I'll double check with the guy who told me - he is very respected as evos go.

MT,
I agree that there are cheaper ways to get better performance but to say that they don't work is not quite right.

check out this kit it is very very simmilar to the cusco but beautifully made in stainless steel manderell bent. no polishing , only a fraction weight difference and nearly half the price.

Shaun,
You mean you haven't been given the special MLR glasses that allow you to see invisible pictures/invisible website links that people haven't posted.

I'd get on the phone straight away and demand a set :D:D:D

:D I've found an oustanding ECU. Costs a quid, comes pre-programmed, plug and play. Much better than the Autronic, Gems, Power FC and MoTeC rubbish. Check it out.

Shaun,

That ECU looks fantastic and just what Ive been after. I feel a group buy coming on :D

Which kit is this exactly and how much are they going for?

Cheers

Any idea's which kit this is and how much they are going for? Simon mentioned nearly half the price of the Cusco (but looks as though it completely surrounds the filter rather than just a metal plate), so I assume around £200... I would like to know more...

Steel

Shaun, why do you think it surrounds the filter, there's no cold air box in the picture?

simon6

nothing surrounds the filter you are looking at the battery box.we have a heat shield but personaly i think they make no difference.

Yes, my fault Andy. I did realise the mistake after posting but couldn't be arsed to amend it! :o

BTW, thanks for the pics again Simon. I would still like to know a rough price to get one, or maybe more if anyone else is interested, made up. Surely a heat shield makes some difference though...

cheers swinYe5......heat shield might make a difference if you have

been sat still for a few mins

It's a definite improvement over standard. I do have reservations as to the lack of some kind of heat shield plate at least. Looks a decent enough kit though, that apart, and will do the job. At the end of the day it depends on the price... ;)

Probably a stupid question, but the air flow meter looks different with these kits fitted. Is this because it has been rotated?
