Having just done Croft on the back of an SIDC day, I can honestly say it will be a superb day for all who attend it's a great track.

Sounds good to me. Hopefuly I'll have had some work done by RC by then (finances willing [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1--> ) so will be a nice outing as my first proper track day (Castle Combe was only 12 laps so doesn't realy count)

David,

I can't wait - really looking forward to it! I've spoken to a few guys recently who really rate the circuit, a couple even said it was their favourite in the UK! So it's time for the Lancer equivalent of the SIDC day last week, preferable without the rain [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/Happy.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle >

We've already got a number of Evo's booked, Alan and amp; Bob (Dragon Autosport) are planning to bring 'something yellow' up for a blast, and I believe Max, Jenny and the RC crew will be there too so it should be another great day.

Adrian,

I think you'll surpass your 12 laps!!! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

Steve,

WATCH??!! When you're only a helmet away from being a part of the action?? (if you pardon the expression!) . . .or is you're Mum like mine and will keep telling you to slow down?!!! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

Excuse my ignorance but where is Croft???

SteveC
26-06-2001, 12:31
Darin,

I would not advise having my mum as a passenger in a 2CV, never mind an Evo. Last weekend took her for a run out over the North Yorks moors (Evo nirvana where the only real danger is dozy sheep), and every two minutes it was eeh, slow down, you're over the speed limit or just potter along behind this one (rover 214 driven by blind geriatric), we won't get there any faster Aaaaaaarrrrgh!!! And the acceleration makes her stomach go all funny.. Now imagine her in the passenger seat on a TRACK DAY (I don't think I can!). Love her to bits though.

C2, Croft is just south of Darlington on the North Yorkshire/Durham borders. Bit of a Treck for you mate.

Steve.

Count me in. It is a great circuit and will be a good test for anyone with cut down Mintex pads!!! Make sure you fill up with super u/l before arriving as there is no refueling at the circuit. See you there.

Anyone know where the nearest source of SUL is for Croft?

Steve.

RS Pilot
26-06-2001, 21:10
Steve,

I always thought the nearest place for SUL was the Shell Garage on Woodlands Road in Darlington (near Memorial Hospital) but found the Jet garage on the A167 towards Northallerton have started to restock. This is only 2 miles from the circuit but on the SIDC day they were charging 96 p per litre and ran out in the morning anyway [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/sad1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e2--> .

From the South, you can fill up at Scotch Corner Services before you get to the circuit but it's a good 20p per gallon more than the Shell Garage in Darlington.

Cheers,

Mark

I am in!

Croft is a great circuit, well worth a trek up from the South!

Please, please boycot the JET service station near the circuit,

NORMAL UNLEADED 77.9p

SUPER UNLEADED 93.9p

A PREMIUM OF 16p PER LITRE!!!!!!!!!! OR ABOUT £7 PREMIUM PER TANKFUL!

He is just shafting and profiteering from track day drivers and diserves to go bust!

At Scotch Corner the Esso is the normal 4p per litre premium and is only about an extra 4 miles!

anyway rant over and looking forward to seeing the usual bandits there!

p.s.

anybody travelling from the south, if you fancy a stop over around Preston I will gladly arrange it, the circuit is 1 and a half hours from us.

RS Pilot
27-06-2001, 21:29
Kev,

Silly me thinking it was 96p per litre when it was a bargain 94 [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e3-->

For reference, the Shell garage in Darlington is charging 84.9p per litre - how does that compare to Scotch Corner Services when you were up? It sound like they may have more realistic prices now [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1-->

It is FLAT, being an old airfield but it has very challenging fast corners and I can't wait to go back there! Oulton and Cadwell are very different but they all have there good points.

Guys,

Hands up who wants to try a set of slicks whilst they're at Croft??

Tim Ashton from BTR Motorsport Preparations has just been in touch to ask;

'. . . is there anyone coming that may like to try a set of slicks to establish a wear rate for me (Michelin S4A tyres). I could do with someone who can press on and push them [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/Happy.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle > These are brand new tyres, fitted to Evo 5 standard rims which we will fit to the car on the day for whoever might want them. In return I want a record of the number of completed laps or the total day mileage to calculate the same if all laps are at full attack speed. A contribution to wear and tear would be required at £100 for the day whatever state they finish in.'

If you think you're just the person to help trash Tim's slicks, he can be reached on; 01977 552348 or <a href|EQU| mailto:support@ultrascripts.com >tim@btrprep.com</a><!--url-->

Well its my first post on MLR, I hang around the dark side (Scoobynet). I was at the SIDC @ Croft and will be crashing in on your party at Croft. It will only be my second track day so still a newbie !!!

Ok, who was on the track at the SIDC day, I remember a black Evo6, and two Mak's, all v smart, put my poxy 94WRX to shame !!! Although i did hold my own with the man in the black Evo. Will be back at Croft with a few more mod's to help me!!!

Looking forward to joining the banter on here !!!

Glad to read your post, not everybody logs on daily so it can take a few days to get a response, and it gets nowhere near as many hits as scoobynet!

I was in the Red Mak X6 MAK, really enjoyed the day and was chuffed the SIDC let us come along. I am still a SIDC member having only sold my scoob last September.

Dave was in the Black Evo, it is a stunningly fast car, but was struggling on a wet track with Yoko's on which are more suited to the dry.

Stu was in the other red one, again an extremly fast car, but called it a day early due to a small mechanical hitch.

It was my first time at Croft, I had new SO-3's on and was able to find plenty of grip, hopefully it will be dry in August then the slicks will be out!

We are all going again on the MLR day so give us a shout and blag a few rides![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1-->

I'll defo take you up on your offer of a blast round the track [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1-->, i'm still a Lancer virgin!!! You more than welcome for a blast in my shed on wheels, all be it with new slicks and AP 4 pots this time [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

Your cars were mint and its nice to see other cars at trackdays not just the scoobs. I ended up on the track three times with Dave, twice he let me past (the driving and courtesy were impecable from everybody). When it did dry out and I was following he started to pull away, mind you I was on shagged standard tyre's. Slicks and big brakes should address the balance this time [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e3-->

I have a pic of your cars parked in a row, i'll send it through.

Hi Skippy,

Sorry, been a bit slow replying. If you're coming to Croft I'll make sure I look for you - I'm running dark blue VI GSR with a few breathing and suspension mods. Only done one full track day so far, so still learning the tricks, but had an excellent time at Caddy last month. It's good to have some non-Evo folks on here, gives us a bit of variety.

If you're thinking about moving to the Dark Side, come on out for a few laps with me in my old banger [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/Wilk.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle > next month and see what you think. Evo's are a bit thin on the ground (even more so than Scoobs) in the North East so you're guaranteed exclusivity. When I visit the folks in Cleveland anyone would think the bloody Martians had landed, can't leave it anywhere without getting attention.

Everyone,

I'm currently waiting to hear from a tyre company I've invited along - they've said yes subject to then getting a new generator for the new truck in time. I have my fingers crossed it turns up, but I'll let you know as soon as I do!

The circuit is about 5 miles from Scotch Corner.

We will be setting off at about 6.30am, last time we all met up at Botany Bay on the M61 junction at Chorley.

We went up the M6 to Tebay and then accross, took about 1.5 hours if I remember right.

SHELL, Shell Woodland Road 80.9p/l
Woodland Road, DARLINGTON (7.6km)

SHELL, Shell Darlington North 80.9p/l
396-398 North Road, DARLINGTON (9.8km)

SHELL, Shell Yarm 81.9p/l
Thirsk Road, YARM (14.5km)

ESSO, Scotch Corner Service... 84.9p/l
Middleton Tyas Lane, RICHMOND (7.2km)

SHELL, Shell Highbrough Moor 84.9p/l
A1 Scotch Corner, RICHMOND (7.7km)

Hope this helps

I'll be in my scooby (Terzo) unless it dies between now and the weekend otherwise I'll be in twitchy scarey land in the wifes Clio 172...

Just like to say a huge thank you for all those people involved in making my first trackday at Croft as fun as it turned out to be. A good selection of cars with nobody driving like w**kers and spoiling the day for everybody. Just so long as you don't mind me trundling round the right hand side of the track with me indicators on - you're all far too fast. And next time I'll have some better brakes as these ones are sh!te.

cheers
Andy

I was a virgin too (U er mrs) anyway had a brilliant day got loads of help from the instructers on how not to spin and crash. My family pass on their thanks for not letting me kill myself (Well at least at croft anyway).
Carnt wait for the next one. Just need some new tyres now, or slicks. Also got a rid in the Evo7 which was ####ing fantastic.
I now feel more confident in my car and it even drives better do to having a real thrashing which is good.
Many thanks for a great day Darin and everyone else involved.

Cheers
Al

Great day out, even better than Cadwell for me, and everyone very sociable - I think I only got 2 outings in the car on my own. Ta to Simon (White RS Sprint) and Skippy (Black Scoob WRX) for showing me how it should be done. Next mods for the car: road legal slicks and harnesses.

Steve.

Hi - just to say a big thanks to Darin etc. for the excellent day out! Although the FTO is underpowered compared to the rest of you guys it didn't do too badly [img]http://194.93.140.171/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1-->

Thanks to the guy in the dark Evo (EVO SIX on the number plates) for making me cackle all the way round the circuit, and a HUGE thanks to Oakley (Mitsi dealer) for letting me take their purple EVO 6 on the track!! I don't know if I upset the salesman but at Tower Bend and Sunny-In I got it completely sideways and drifted round the corners. Superb stuff!

I REALLY gotta get me one of those EVO's!!! Oh, and one suggestion for the website, I'd like to see the Model Info split into the sub-models - eg. the Makinen Edition, GSR, Extreem ... and all the differences between them.

Everyone,

Thanks (as always!) for coming along and making the day a huge success.

With Croft making us all feel very welcome and being flexible with the running of the day and getting the (few) stoppages turned round in mega-quick time, Oakley (Mits Dealer) and Colt Car Co. for bringing along the cars (a 6 GSR, Tommi Mak, 7 GSR and a VR4) and their hospitality unit, AND of course Duke video - the day was friendly, fun, and full with (I hope) everyone getting enough tracktime - with or without the instructors. Thanks too to those of you who filled out the questionnaire helping me know what we're doing right and what can be improved!

The next 'proper' trackday is at Donington on 5 November (only £99) - but don't worry, I'll remind you nearer the time!! [img]http://194.93.140.171/graphics/Wilk.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| middle >

Cheers,
