What a top day at Cadwell.[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1-->

First time I had used the Club Circuit and totally impressed by it, still fast and challenging.

Best of all, the 30 to 40ish cars attending suffered no incidents! The day was very well run with LOADS of track time.

Big thanks to Steve Dunn,(Red 5) for inviting the Evo's along. We had a top day and loved the track to ourselves for the last hour![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

This was excellent fun, thanks again to Steve D. It was meant to be a Porsche Club event but there seemed to be more Evo's than Porsches. Good to meet the North Western Posse at last.

This was my first proper track day so I stuck to baiting BMW's and Porsches, but let the P1 past when I said hello to the grass verge after lunch. It was a bit greasy with the rain starting and too much power on coming out of the bend at the end of Park straight got me a nice 270 spin . No damage done, and none of you lot saw me! To top it off I didn't even warp my discs and got reliable reports of shooting a few flames accelerating away from the hairpin.

Next job is to get it chipped to sort the sodding fuel cuts.

Steve.

Agree that it was a cracking day, although i was a bit apprehensive at the briefing. It seemed less controlled than the normal days we have there (overtaking on either side?). Whether that's a good or a bad thing is another matter. The TME with the thing on the roof-was that a camera or some description?

Cheers

Dave

Dave

It was a remote controlled camera with 360 degree action. Stuck to the roof fine with a magnet until it went past me at 140 on the motorway with the lid flapping!

What car were you in Dave?

Kevin,

How did you get on with the slicks?

Mark,

It was wet at first so I ran my SO-2's, then the sun came out for about 1 hour. I managed to do about 20 laps, very gently at first. They lasted well, and the grip was fantastic, took 3 people out with them on and they were gobsmacked with the cornering and braking.
The rest of the day was damp so I have shagged my SO-2's, I am getting SO-3's on Wednesday.

I will be taking the slicks to Bedford on 13th July weather permitting, are you going?

Kevin,

Not sure about Bedford although I've taken a day off work to watch at Croft. Are you not taking the slicks with you there?

How did you find the slicks when cold? - with my kart it's terrible until you get the heat built up.

Kevin,

I was in my friend's Caterham-the blue Superlight not the Bandit. Doing my level best to keep my Evo away from trackdays at the moment-i've only just replaced the tyres.

Cheers

Steve, Did you go out with the insructor ?

The best way to go round a circuit is to let someone who knows the place well, like a qualified instructor. Or at least someone who has been there before and obviously knows the place.
When I went out at first I didn't have a clue where I was going and was making allsorts of mistakes, I really didn't think the car could go any faster and stay in one piece on the track.
After I found the proper racing lines and gear selections it was a lot easier and also probably easier on the car.
A 'one to one' tuition with a proper instructor who I might add was a really proper bloke,
would cost a fortune, but was free on the day. I really can't understand why anyone who hadn't been before didn't take up the opportunity

Hi Peely,

After taking the hints from people about using the instructors I was going to but then couldn't find him so I went out for a last thrash and headed for Kent about 4pm. You can bet I'll be first in the queue for the instructor at any track day that has one available, but I had an excellent time anyway. If I get the chance to do Cadwell again it's worth the trip, but next one will probably be the MLR day at Croft in August, unless something else crops up that I can get to. Will you boys be at Croft?

Cheers
Steve.

PS: Re the piccies, I thought your other half was on Camcorder duty?

PEELY

Glad you had a good time Steve

The less said about camcorders the better.

I think she shot about 15mins which went something like this; Tarmac, Sky, Trees, Car, more tarmac, Car which wasn't me. F**king useless (she doesn't come on here) [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

I think Hunty and a few others are doing Croft tommorrow. Not sure about July

I may do Oulton Park in the near future and we hope to get invited to Cadwell again.
