Organised by the local Porsche Club at this fantastic circuit, extra cars are required to make the numbers up.

Full day, full circuit and no sessions-£120.

Places are limited.

e-mail me at kevin.hunt@orange.net

If you have not done Cadwell it is a fantastic circuit combining plenty of high speed challenges!

Hi Lawrence,

Cadwell is near Louth in Lincolnshire. From Manchester it is M62, M18, M180 and then A18 about 1.5 hours.

Don't send me the money, I will mail you with the address.

Kevin.

Cheque in post today to Redfive - will be staying at a mate's house in Sleaford but may pop in for a beer the night before if everyone is in the same place.

My cheque as gone today as well. Never been to Cadwell before.

We will probably go down the night before and stay somewhere if recommended.

Can anyone suggest numbers or names for 'trackday cover' my insurance AXA won't touch it !

Woz going down sat morning but as a few are now going I would suggest the Haywain on Friday night, good accommodation and excellent food.

Peely I use Eggar Lawson but I believe their premiums have since rocketed. I paid £300 for 6 track days @ £10,000 cover.

If you can all set of around 5pm on the Fri evening from Preston/Bolton it takes about 2 hours.

Haven't heard from Adrian, are you going?

Kevin,

If I wasn't going on holiday at the end of June I would. But a few hundred quid and a new set of tyres will buy quite a few jugs of Sangria, so will have to give it a miss this time. Also haven't sorted the brakes out after Castle Combe yet. New pads needed I think, as they faded like mad at the end of the second session. Might try to come down and watch though. Cheers for the info anyway.

Adrian

Adrian

I am dissapointed with you![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

I remember Combe when you got the life now revolves around track days bug.

The harder Mintex pads have sorted the brakes out for me and Cadwell is not as hard on them with only 1 big braking point.

Come on, you know it makes sense![img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1--> Cadwell is certainly my favorite track.

Peely - The only track insurance I've come across is Eggar Lawson and as Hunty says they aren't cheap, but one guy on another thread gets cover as an add on to his normal insurance policy - Norwich Union apparently. Probably no chance of changing unless you're up for renewal but worth bearing in mind for the future.

Hunty - what village is the Haywain in? Will try to pop over for a quick pint.

Steve.

Kevin,

Stella gives me really bad hangovers, and Sainsburys are selling 20 bottle of bud for £13.

I'll talk about the track day with Keeley tonight. Whats another few hundred quid on my credit card anyway [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/happy1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e1-->

Thanks guys, I'll give Edgar Lawson a ring tommorrow. Tel number ???

What do I need to take with me to the track - Insurance documents, or licence and what else ?

Adrian, Go on you know it makes sense . . . You know you want too !! and as far as Bud being cheaper than Stella, it should be it's like nat's p155 compared.

Hunty is that cans or bottles, just drunk my last bottle of Stella last night, and I'm feeling rather thirsty [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/tongue1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e4-->

Updated Story

Taken from Scoobynet today.

Cadwell has been hired on the 9th by a local company boss as a treat for his employees. He plans to split the cars into groups. One of these groups will be for his employees who buy anything that has an MOT. Last year the day was stopped when one of these guys trashed his car and took out the armco. So the standard of driving is not the best and should not be treated as a normal track day.

He has clearly told me that it the short circuit due to the type of people who will be going not having the skill or the cars to tackle the mountain it really is a day for his guys to drive round a track and that is all.

Sorry for the gloom but if you were coming from the otherside of the pennines you may be a little p$$$d to find only the club track in use .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If this is the case then I will probably give it a miss!

Anyone who has sent their chq. to me is welcome to it back - just phone and say so, but be quick - I'm gonna send 'em off next week, and I won't be responsible if the orgainsiers won't let you have your cash back !

Incidentally, the armco incident to which Kevin refers was Dave (skylump GTR, MLR member I think) who might just be a bit offended at the suggestion that his driving was to blame - it had nothing to do with the poor drivers to which you (Kevin) refer. It was an unfortunate accident not attributable to anyone else or to the standard of drivers or cars at the circuit. It certainly wasn't some dickhead in an MOT failure !!

I've done 3 trackdays with these guys before and found them to be the same crowd you get at all of these events - 99% good guys there for the crack and 1% dickheads - look at recent LTR day at cadwell by example.

I can't vouch for the validity of Kevins last post, and am no way involved in the organisation of the track day concerned - just wanted to make it available to MLR/LTR members - wish I hadn't bothered now : if you guys can't make-up your own minds and will listen to heresay, then so be it - I'm not gonna promise you it will be good, bad, or indifferent.

Tell me (by phone message not a post on here, 'cos I wont be looking) if you want your cheques back before Tuesday noon, or I'll send 'em off , and can't gurantee your get your dosh back !

For any of you with the conviction to stick-it-out I'll see you there - I'll be in the Skoda or maybe the DAF variomatic if it passes its MOT !!

I appear to have been totally misunderstood!!!!!!!!

The post was taken from scoobynet I just cut and pasted it!

I would still like to do the day but I dont want a 300 mile round trip, overnight accommodation etc to go down the pan!

Hunty,

Stick in there - I've already asked Steve D to send my cheque off (I'm going to Lincolnshire anyway - Godfather duties). I would be tempted to take the Scoobynet post with a big pinch of salt.

when I spoke to Steve D on Wednesday he thought they may have enough people to get the full track. We may still be in with a shout.

Does anyone know where to find the nearest petrol station to Cadwell selling SUL?

See you there Saturday morning.

Steve and amp; all

You Turn right out of cadwell park and follow the signs into Louth, go straight accross the by-pass into Louth, straight on accross the traffic lights and there is an Esso on your right. (6 miles from the circuit)

Alternatively there is a Shell if you turn left from the circuit, can't remember what the village is called, but it is about 7 miles.

SteveC
05-06-2001, 19:00
Spoke to Redfiver, the Shell garage is in Horncastle: turn off the A153 and go about 400 yard on the Skegness Road.

Anyone coming to Cadwell on Saturday please note :

Bring your drivers License !
Bring Your helmets !

Much sadness will result if you forget either of these items !

Be there about 8:30 am if possible - apparently they want to get going by 9am, so the sooner you get there the better.

Anyone who has booked via me and wants any info on the day is welcome to track me down : look out for the White Vectra on a trailer towed by a white Pug. 405 (or red Evo 5 later in the day) - I know little more about the day than you guys, but apprently it is club circuit and sessions split into cars by driver skill (your own selection) and quality of cars, so your precious EVO doesn't get run into by an old banger !! (unles that's me in the Vectra of course !
