i always thought my evo 4 had a prob but its me :D thats sad i messed up my own gearbox coz of this prob.

i was driving sams car from england and back for 350 miles and coz i change the gear too fast it made the crunching noise and sam said dont **** with my gear box or no shots for u :D i felt guilty coz i did it 5 times i think and he said i dont even do that in 6 months, but he is a slow gear changer, so i say to the people take it easy when u change your gears u dont wanna crunch the syncros it costs megabucks, he just got his rebuilt and i was the first one to crunch it , i felt bad :(

You think that I should not shift directly from 5th to 2nd at high speed???:D

You could solve that problem by getting a dog box. Cost around £3500 - 4000 and will enable you to change gears faster. You can choose the gears to suit your application. The only thing is, it makes a loud noise, just like when going backwards!

I used to come from your school of gear changing :), but I had my gearbox rebuilt because of the bearing problem and my syncros were in a right state after just 12,000 miles. 3rd was almost wasted, so had them all replaced. Take it a lot easier now!

Lets face it Evo gearbox's are sh*t along with the chocolate transfer boxes. I've done 2 boxes in the last 6 months and melted a couple of transfer boxes as a result.

Moses, I bet you always have your hand on the gearstick and your foot hovering on the clutch pedal while driving along as well don't you!;)

Not clever either if you like clutches and gear linkages

I haven't spoke to Sam for ages.

You tell everyone exactly how you drive by the posts you make :D

Not exactly hard to work out now are you! ;)

that the gearbox is not very reliable. I had the 4th snycro messed just after 10000 miles and I am not a hard driver(way too less than moses :) ) But I think we should look at the other side of the coin also; there is a mechanical limit... Allright, these cars are built for the enthusiast wanting to take the sht out out of them, but because of the mechanical limits( imagine two gears meshing, one turning at 6000rpm, the other 4000 rpm, lets say ;) there is no material on earth to cope with that) the manufacturers have to use something as a fuse, ant that is the snycro... It is there so that the gears are safe, it wears and reminds us that we are pushing it too far.

Well maybe I am just trying to be positive, as I messed my box very recently :p

Cheers, and take it easy :)
