Hi Dave,

Apologies for not coming back to you. Yes, I'm very pleased (relieved?) to say Cadwell 27 April is on - and if you want friendly / afforable accommodation to go with it - with a good bar and food, I recommend giving the Haywain Motel a buzz (01507 462786) . . . we'll all be there!

Cheers,

Darin,

could you put my £70 towards this? Me and a passenger, unless this trackday is priced differently than Anglesey. My car is K6 WAP.

Hmmmm, let me think, Cadwell, a week before the trip to Nurburgring - wonder what I can do to my car? - Might as well start the sweepstake myself - Brakes, transmission, crank?

Looks like it will be LARGE fun,

C U all there - [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e3-->

Sorry I've been away for a while!!

Paul, Mark, Michael and Dave - you're all pencilled in but (you know what I gonna say!) please get your cheques to me to confirm asap. Michael; I'll need another £30 to cover the difference between Anglesey and Cadwell Park please.

This means that the day is virtually full already as only 5 places are still available - although we will be running a reserve list as always, just in case anyone drops out!

As for F and amp;M; I've been told by the circuit that so far they haven't been affected - you don't know how many things I have crossed that it remains that way!! I look forward to seeing you all on the day - or at The Haywain the night before for a small 'social'.

Cheers,

The Haywain is all booked up for the Thursday night but I managed to get a room for Friday night.
I look forward to hearing tales of slain Scooby's and cooked brakes!

Which one is the closest hotel to the track, as there are about 20 on the list?

Darin
22-04-2001, 02:46
Michael,

According to the Circuit Guide, the nearest accommodation to the circuit is;

Butterfield Guest House, Louth (4 miles) 01507 606719
The Black Horse, Donington on Bain (4 miles) 01507 343640
The Old rectory Guest House, Stewton (4 miles) 01507 328063
Keddington House, Louth (5 miles) 01507 603973
Admiral Rodney Hotel, Horncastle (7 miles) 01507 523131

Alternatively, you could ring Paul at The Haywain (01507 462786) and ask his advice. Wherever you decide to stay though, the only place to be for a beer on either Thursday or Friday night is the Haywain as it's stacked out with MLR petrolheads for both nights! (I'm told some people are even camping there!! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/laugh1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e8--> )

Only one week to go guys!!

The Haywain is at a place called Ulceby Cross, not far from Cadwell and Louth (it's SE of Louth I think..) Can't miss it, it's on a cross roads on the main road... Best of luck [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/wink1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e3-->.... see you there...

Also booked in the Beaumont. Just changed oil/filter, one last question: Are there facilities to jack the car up/get under the car? Otherwise I'll just take my jack with me...

It was a good day, although it took me a while to get used to the circuit. At first I was being overtaken by any old Civic, but it got better as the day progressed. Shame about so much time being lost because of crashes (over an hour and half). I could't help but laugh my head off when I saw that Doc Jock (an Impreza station wagon with trackday number plates _and_ videocamera, name in the back window, etc...) had crashed out. He should send the tape to one of those funniest home videos programs. How he lost it where he did is beyond me. It ####ed me off that it was the first lap after lunch and I couldn't even complete it. Next time (whereever that is) I'll bring some slicks/intermediate tires, as they made a lot of difference...

You need to learn some respect michael.

laughing at anyones misfortune is pretty sick.

in case you wonder, i am the driver of the cosworth turbo powered westfield that kicked your ass.

I was right behind Doc Jock when he crashed, it's not fun watching a car piroeting feet in front of you, my concern was that they were OK as i watched the car bounce off the barriers, i certainly wasnt laughing.

No need to get all sentimental. Pretty difficult to kick someone's ass with a power/weight ratio twice as good, isn't it?

What's with all this posturing and b*ll*cks - I wasn't aware that track days were a competitive event? Kicking peoples ass and laughing at other peoples misfortune seems a bit juvenile?

Having suffered a mis-hap at Cadwell in the past (I closed the circuit on the first session, for the whole day[img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/embarassed1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e6-->), for which I can only apologise profoundly - I think that a bit of friendly ribbing is fine, the post above seems to indicate an attitude and mental capacity that I wouldn't want to share the track with - unless I've misunderstood (it wouldn't be the first time)...

My deepest commiserations to the Doc Jock Scooby Driver, and the others who lost their way...

well put SkyLump GTR

It is non competitive, kiccking ass etc isnt the point.

As to driving a car with 470BHP/tonne and RWD, you should try it some time. Its a damn sight harder to drive on the limit than a 200BHP/tonne car. I built my car for fun, and fun is what i have on track days.

It does get my back up when i see stupid comments like laughing at others mishaps, hence my less than considered reply.

Look, of course I feel sorry for Doc Jock, but can you not see the irony of someone preparing their car at the track for probably the best part of an hour with all sorts of visual effects, etc. only to crash out very early? It _is_ funny in _my_ books for god's sake, no need to get your knickers in a twist. I bet you never laugh when you see those home video programs? As for:

You are my hero, can I kiss your feet sometime?

driving any car this side of a formula 1 is not hard
a 500cc motocrosser is the only thing in this world that can be said to be frightening/dangerous/uncontrollable etc
a car is just a car,however fast

I must admit if it were a scoob bash and an Evo had span off ,the sentiment would of been exactly the same,I am sure.
The only thong is, it gets posted annonamously.
How ever!
Some times as all may experience is a Dick head on the track may be intimidating, travelling up your arse too fast weaving in and out ,and with out wanting to cut them short into a corner ,spins .
