hi all, i don't know if anyone has come accross this before but i think i have a problem with the steering rack or something.

when i am straightening up from steering left, sometimes i get a clunking noise from the front drivers side. i can slightly feel something through the pedals and the floor too.

have any of you come accross this before? could it be that the springs are not sat rights ( they have just been fitted [hks])

please help??!! any ideas?

Cheers :-)

Its funny you mention this, because I've just started experiencing similar problems with my steering. Like yourself, I'm getting the occassional clunking noise when turning the wheel from the drivers footwell, vibrations through the steering wheel above >80mph and more worringly a slight looseness in the steering.

I had the geometry checked & OK'd recently so my guess is a worn steering gear or rack. Is this common for an evo thats only done 20K? I'm gonna probably be taking it in soon to have it checked out.

Got mine back from ther garage yesterday and the diagnosis is a faulty steering rack. Had the same - loose steering and clunking when turning right. Feedback through the pedals was also noticed so hopefully that will be rectified when they fix me next week!

To be replaced under warranty as my baby has only got 15k on it.

I would highly recommend getting it checked

I noticed the date soon after my post - I hoped I had got away with it!!

Don't tell anyone and I might save some face - it can be our little secret
