View Full Version : Evo 6 Exhaust system
Hi,being relatively new to the Evo 6 I am thinking of replacing the standard item with a nice shiny stainless big bore ;)
Can anyone help me?
A)Which is best solution for power/bhp gain?
B)Can you post cheapest web links
C)I dont want the car too noisy on idle or low revs
D)I want to remove the cat ,is there any sensors/wires to move/remove?If so what do you do with them so it wont affect reliability ??
Thanks in advance :D

You will have to change the turbo elbow, the downpipe, the cat,the piping and the rear silencer.
For the downpipe you can get the power engineering dp that includes the turbo elbow,or ask them if they can add the length to replace the cat. Then you can fit a blitz exhaust that is stainless steel or another jap exhaust like the apexi hayabusa.

The magnex system is very good and less expensive, is 80mm stainless steel, it just doesn't include the turbo elbow.

The evo is not usually loud on idle, but the blitz uses a removable insert for the rear silencer when you want less noise, or if you get a loud exhaust you can get the apexi adjustable valve that will partially close the exhaust piping to reduce noise. u adjust it from inside.

No there is no wiring at the cat.

This may sound a little OTT, but I would also pay attention to the weight of the exhaust. There are some big differences! The Apex'i N1 is titanium or titanium containing or something. But the weight is low. And it looks cool, turns blue when hot :D
Check it out:

I have just been looking at the EV75 downpipe (£464.13) from power engineering. If I bought that kit am I right in thinking that it would replace the existing downpipe from the turbo to the cat?
and my std rear exhaust section would bolt straight on?
Also where does power engineering show the cat replacement pipe ?or would i have to contact them specially to have such item made?
From what I understand the exhaust will come in 3 parts.Downpipe from the turbo, cat replacement pipe, exhaust section?
The reason for my asking is I wish to replace a part everymonth (having just bought the car, money is getting tight
:D ).So I can start with the downpipe, then replace cat, then exhaust!

Yes.
In the standard exhaust system, the turbo exhaust housing is bolted to a "turbo elbow" which goes onto the downpipe.
The EV75 replaces both the turbo elbow and the downpipe.

Absolutely.

on their site, in "exhaust". Look:

I would, however, recommend that you fit a Magnex stainless steel cat replacement pipe (availble for £50 from RC Developments, one of the links MAXI provided you with in his post)

Part exchange your Evo for a grey BMW then :D

That would be for what they call the "cat back system", ie. the part after the cat. A whole Evo exhaust does cost close to £1,000, unfortunately!
So, you will need:
EV75 downpipe
decat pipe
cat back system
wilfy.
i have a magnex cat back system for sale if you are interested.
mark.
Wilfy, I'd recommend you buy as much as possible second hand if funds are minimal. Just about all the bits you’ll find for sale in this forum have only been used with minimal mileage, you just might struggle to find a PE front pipe or similar to replace the turbo elbow.
I picked up a Blitz Nur Spec with 400 miles thro it for £350 and I’ve just about now decided to buy the PE front pipe, extension and de-cat to bolt up to it - £454.49 incl VAT on the shelf, I called them an hour ago!
You really need to change the whole lot coz by only changing one section won’t release the full gain. I decided to buy the Blitz now and leave it off the car until I’ve bought the front pipe.
At the end of the day it’s your choice, either way you can’t really go wrong.
Enjoy… :)
Yeah I totally agree with what you are saying Bream (nice 1 thanks ;) ).My usual luck is someone coming upto me after I just bought an item saying..."I could of got you one of them x pounds cheaper than that from so-and-so's.."
For instance,I just bought the Ralliart workshop book Evo 5 with the Evo 6 supplements, literally 24 hours later, the person who I bought the car from said....(well I shall not type it as you can probably guess!).But he has got a nice set of 18" wheels for sale :D
P.S. Bream can I have your exhaust :p
Seriously tho, whats the nur spec like??
as the saying goes ;)
Picked up a set of 18s myself a few weeks ago, wait for it, with tyres £400 :D
Done the same for quite a few other bits as well, all a matter off floating around this board every day with the cash waiting
Blitz exhaust is a work of art, currently sat in my mates garage and will get fitted very soon when I buy the front pipe... could be yours, offers over £450 please :D
Good luck, you tried stuck a wanted thread in?
Hear you around..........
