gearbox whine???

seem to be having a whining noise coming from the front of the car..... seems to go louder the faster u go, any ideas follks????

the CAT IS FLAT poor thing....!!!!! not very funny!!!!!! cost me a little fortune :(

Hi,

when this happend to me it was the Input Shaft Bearing.See the FAQ section of the web site and you will see unfortunately this is a fairly common failure , however the pricing in the FAQ is a bit on the steep side , I got mine done for about £750 including VAT

Get that gearbox checked quick - check out Rob Plummer's threads on early eco gearboxes - known problem wth the main bearing under the end cover - the nut holding it all in place comes loose and makes a bit of a mess of things.

Sounds like a problem I had 5mths ago the faster I went the lounder the whining got it checked out did not like the result.

It was the transfer box 2.5k not a cheap item to replace hope your problem is not that.
