Whats the view on using wheel spacers to solve wheel/brake clearance problems? I noticed on the thread about VOLKS wheels, someone suggested using 4mm spacers on a car that sounds destined for serious use. As I may (or may not) have a clearance problem ( Steve Hill MSport will be checking for me Monday), I could do with knowing in advance whether spacers could be a way forward - the car is used for frequent trackdays.
Any views on maximum spacer widths/front only or use all round/replacing studs??

Thanks

Darryl.

i will be using 2mm spacers coz i have evo 6 wheels on my 4 so once the evo 6 panels are on i will be using a spacer and anything over 2mm mate u will do damage to your wheel bearings

cant see much of a problem using 2mm-3mm spacers just make sure you get decent machened spacers not cast ones , as they say you get what you pay for !

make sure that the centre bore of the new wheel sits on the hub tight (i think its 67.1 mm on the 6), i tried a tried a couple of diff wheels on my car couple of weeks ago and had a real nightmare getting a decent fit. Most of the wheels i liked had a centre bore of 75mm and i need a spacer aswel. The only way out for me was to get some custom made spacers made, not sure whether i'm gonna go that route yet. The wheel co. i went to were totally against using there standard spacers on high performance cars and would not sell the wheels unless they were happy with the fit.

hope this helps.

or get some MOVIT brakes! The calipers/rotors are ca. 10mm more inwards!!
