View Full Version : No1 MLR trackday at CADWELL
Hi everyone,
The first MLR trackday of 2002 will be at Cadwell Park on Friday 22 March .
We'll be using the full circuit (of course!), running open pit lane and have free instruction throughout the day from Mark, Graeme and Charlotte, but the best news is that we'll also be improving all the trackdays for 2002 by limiting the numbers of cars and amp; drivers to ensure that the day is more relaxed and that everyone gets even more tracktime, as well as introducing a two-tier pricing system making it cheaper for MLR members ... (both comments made by you via the Feedback forms in 2001) :)
If you want an added laugh, we'll all be having a few sherberts at the Haywain Motel (01507 462786) the night before and after - so why not make it a day and night?! :D
The full day for MLR members costs £119 (non members £129) with additional drivers @ £35 each and passengers £5 each. Please send your bookings to the MLR address; PO Box 2740, Radstock, Bath, BA3 2XZ (cheques made payable to the MLR please).
As always it's first come first served and details will be in Circuit News early next month, but if you have any further questions please email me at <a href|EQU| mailto:support@ultrascripts.com >darin@lancerregister.com</a><!--url--> . . . . . and remember places really are limited this year!!
Hope to hear from you soon.
Nice one, Cadwell is on my doorstep - sons' birthday too, so don't need an excuse for day off work either!!
Will be there but only spectating :)
Darin

Yes please! - my fave circuit even if it was only the club version last time. Will stump up the readies asap.
Steve.
Are any of you stopping over the night before near the circuit? If so, the Brackenborough Arms Hotel is good and not far from the circuit (about 5 mins drive if that).
Greetings Guys
Happy new year to you all!
I love this place, look forward to seeing you all there
Kevin.

What car will you be running now the Evo`s gone ?
Dave
Hopefully some sort of track car, Vectra or something. If not will have a bash in the girlfriends Mini Cooper or maybe hire a suitable runabout!
Darin
A big YES for 1 place.
This time I promise that I will get the cheque to you well in advance, its a New Years resolution of mine.
Look forward to meeting all of the regulars and catching up with a lot of gossip.

Hello chaps
I'd like to come along and ave a go as they say, it;ll be me 1st time at a trackday so be gentle with me won;t you. Also does anyone have any advice about insurance for this sort of thing as the wife will have me knackers if I write of the EVO (i think moving to spain would be the easier option if it happened.) Put me down for some tution as well as I like to build up me confidence with someone who knows what their doin.
Any advice appreciated.
See you all soon.
Barny if you read this are you going to come along.?
What time of day will you all be going to this, our village in en-route so could drive over together if you wanted?
Wheels
I will be there and maybe if you are lucky i will bring the ped!
Teri,
Will work out where I am staying in the next week or so and let you know. If you can be bothered to get up early, a convoy to the track is a good idea. Where are you based?
Steve.
Steve
I'm up at 5.30 every morning!! :)
U have mail too
Teri
Can't wait Darin, have to get on with the car now :)

Kevin (H),
If you haven't sorted out a new car by then, I might be tempted to take the Clio, and share the driving. It'll be a LOT cheaper than taking the EVO (brakes are on their way out), and giveyou an idea of how much the damn thing understeers. Depends if I can get the day off work or not though.
Adrian
Bought a 1997 Vectra Challenge car last weekend! Full roll cage, carbon interior, AP's and the best bit 'a starter button!' (always wanted a car with one of those).
Getting it checked out and set up by Road and amp; Stage Motorsport this week and a second seat fitted for instructors and passengers.
Can't wait to get it on the track, with only 200bhp all you Evo's should out drag it down the back straight but wait for the twistie bits!:)
See you all at the Haywain Thursday evening!
Hunty
From what I saw at Donny last year it won`t be much slower if at all down the straights , don`t forget 4WD has extra power losses of 60ish bhp over FWD |PLS| yours is a stripped out light weight :)
I personally feel you are clearly sandbagging me` old m8 and fully expect to blow everything away :D

Well done Kev, and welcome to the Vectra wing of the MLR ! - we have two members so far I think !
Anyone who did the club-circuit bash at Cadwell last year will know that the vectra goes well there, carrying enough speed 'round all the bends to equal an evo (unless you guy's know different!?)
We were out (in the vectra) last weekend at Donington, and we managed (apart from one mighty spin) to keep the vectra head held high with very good cornering speeds, although Mark (Black Evo 6, probaly about 350bhp by now (Mark?)) did chew-us-up and spit-us-out at one point !! - still as you say kev. 200bhp 2wd against an evo is just a bit unequal !
Look forward to seeing you at Cadwell
Hi All,
Thanks to all those of you who have already booked - this is just a quick reminder to say that this year’s trackdays (Cadwell Park included) will be restricted on numbers, so please send your bookings asap if you’re coming along. . . . .there will be no more than 65 cars running on 22 March. . . and the last thing I want to do is to say sorry the day's full to someone from the MLR.
If any of you are wondering where’s the best place to stay – it’s The Haywain Motel (01507 462786); affordable, great food (and beer), big car park and a friendly landlord who doesn’t mind us making him keep the bar open! :D
Please email me if you have any questions: <a href|EQU| mailto:support@ultrascripts.com >darin@lancerregister.com</a><!--url-->
Looking forward to seeing you all - the regulars and the new faces, and having a great day.
We are going to try and get to the pub on Thursday night, see you there.
Darin, now that Ive got a road going Evo at long last, put me down for this on too.

Notice that you are from Lincolnshire, which part and are there any other Evos near you?
Hi Big Evo
I live out near Sleaford, Probably on route to cadwell for most of the membership. There are a few more Evo's around here, can probably think of about 3 more now in villages around the area. I keep seeing them about. Saw one on Sunday in Lincoln parked in the Suzuki garage near canwick hill (i hope he;s not thinking of trading in!!!):). Don;t like mentioning who I know and where they are these days as so many of them are getting nicked around here and I don;t want to be one to start problems for anyone if you know what I mean. What are you driving then? Mines a red EVO 6 TME with the stripes. See you at cadwell if not b4 no doubt.

Will be at Cadwell, my parents live at Quarrington. WIll give u a shout next time I'm in that area.
Got one of these!!!
INSURANCE ADVICE ANYONE
My current insurance policy does not cover track days and they wont entertain the idea of a 1 day cover deal. Do any of you chaps have the same issues and what do you do to get round it. Do you cover your motors from trackdays or just say your prayers the night before etc? Any advice greatfully recvd.
Wheels,
The MLR always offers both Car and Personal insurance at all the trackdays we organise, and cover can be issued on the morning of the trackday itself. All policies are arranged through Competition Car Insurance and cover; the cost of, repairs to parts, fabrication and specialist labour. It does not cover routine dismantling and reassembly, or engines and transmissions .
Premiums vary depending on what value you want to insure your car for, but a couple of examples are;
Sum assured: £5000, Excess: £750, Cover: £4250, Premium: £80
Sum assured: £12000, Excess: £3000, Cover: £9000, Premium: £117.50
Note; these prices are from November 2001 - I'm currently waiting for the new figures (hopefully they won't be too different!)
Personal Accident Cover costs £10 per person, and includes:
Death and loss of limbs or Eyes (£ 250,000) and Total and permanent disablement (£ 250,000)
You can of course arrange it yourself prior to the day by calling Competition Car Insurance direct; 0115 941 5255 - speak to Georgina or Nik.
Hope this answers your questions. . . . .and see you at Cadwell! :)
Would you all mind if I joined this event....? One of my fave tracks, s'pecially getting air over the mountain section :)
Darin
Thanks for the info chap, i think i;ll sort it out on the day, look forward to meeting you and the rest of the club on the day.
See you soon.

Hi All,
If you're booked in for the MLR trackday at Cadwell then count yourselves lucky people as the day is now full - and has been for a while.
Sorry to those of you who may have missed this one, but don't worry too much as we'll be at Castle Combe on 3 May (the first open pit lane day held at the fast Wiltshire circuit possibly?) - not to mention being back at Cadwell later in the year.
Of course, everyone's still welcome to come along to Cadwell on 22 March to spectate (costs nothing to get in), and if you want to 'ride shotgun' for a few laps I'm sure they'll be plenty of people who'll be pleased to take you out :D, but don't forget to bring a helmet!
Look forward to seeing you all either at The Haywain the night before (or after!), or Cadwell itself on the day.
Couldn't get in at the Haywain this time, all booked up. :(
Provisionally booked at the Beumont, [img]http://www.lancerregister.com/graphics/embarassed1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e6-->

Yeah your safe :) ,its quite a nice place with good staff, breakfast ,wake up call ,newspaper .
I will tell you about the fella who's house burnt down at 5am when he left the kettle to dry boil when out walking his dog, stayed in the hotel for 3 months .
I think he's in Broadmoor now after going insane and running amock in the hoel carpark with a machette.
I like a place wit character.
