Nice car looks and sounds ace!

Yes... it is good to me. Is it from an E5, E6 or E7?

Not sure if there are combustion chamber differences....

Mine has already been flowed/ported, and obviously is good for 485bhp. The big valve head will let me break 500bhp and more midrange power...

but...

I need someone who has experience of porting evo heads for this power level. Prospeed can do it, but not till December....

not sure who else to turn to :(

I would like to get a new head done... then sell my old head.

we can come to some deal . speak to tom he does large valves etc etc . steve mapped a evo of tom's that made 430ftlb at 3200 on 34 mm restrictor . that engine had his own cams and big valve head on . he grinds his own cams for very large lift . what have you got to lose .

Yeh, I am not convinced..

Their head is £1700!!!

You get ported, flowed.... oversize 2mm valves inlet, but standard exhaust valves?????

Doesn't compute...
.
Lots of torque... but no more power...

mmm

not convinced...

I am going with Prospeed i think

Blade,

Have you thought of having your cylinder head done here in the Philippines? Labor of remachining the head, the ultra-lighweight BBB valves for intake and exhaust (made in Argentina, apparently the lightest SS valves available for the 4G63), titatinum springs and retainers will set you back far less than 1,700 Pounds. In fact, at 1,700 Pounds, that should include the price of HKS 272 cams (intake and exhaust) and the adjustable cam gears as well, which I think you already have.

The guy who will do the head did Hesperus' car and Manuel Go's (in the member's picture's cars) 522 wheel HP monster of an Evo. He's a Columbian, pretty good as he also rebuilt my engine.

Thing is, you will still need it to be installed by a local shop there in the UK once it gets back there, which might put you off, plus the S/H of the head to and from the UK.

The head, with the reworked valvetrain is good for 8K RPM absolute reliability, and the mechanic claims he's tried it shifting at 9.5k RPM with no reliability problems so far. :D

I'm not sure if Heperus mentioned this to you before. He gained about 40 wheel HP with this head, and he still hasn't fitted the uprated valve-springs and the HKS 272 cams, as well as his bigger injectors. With all these installed, along with a higher-flow fuel pump, he and our mechanic expects about another 15-20 wheel HP gain from this.

If this is not new info for you, sorry mate. If you are interested, check out www.auto-plus.com for more details.

PS
Love your car's look too! :D Got any more pics? I've seen some of your videos, all in-car so seeing its exterior was a first for me. Hesperus downloaded some of your in-car videos and made me a copy of it. Fantastic, especially you chasing Droid! :D

Very interesting.

Was the head done by Manuel's mechanic then?

RS Sprint
26-09-2002, 15:11
Yep!

Manuel's cylinder head is called a "Racing Head" made only for the owners of that shop, such as Manuel.

Hesperus' cylinder head is a Stage 5, which is what regular customers can get.

Want to get a ported head as well, can't afford one right now. :(

Tony,

What a coincidence...

Manuel has just informed me that my 800cc injectors have arrived!

Which means I can now finally install my cams, high-flow pump, and fuel regulator. And then the quest for a bit more power shall commence anew :D

Currently doing 273HP @ the wheels (up about 70HP from stock), at about 1.25 bar (peak) boost on the OEM turbine. Without getting into a whole nother discussion on crank vs wheel HP figures, that should translate into a conservative 340HP at the flywheel. Considering that my boost is relatively modest (I'm still running stock internals,) I'd say its safe to conclude that the gains are mainly down to the head.

I'm not sure about how practical RS Sprint's suggestion is (i.e., shipping your head all the way here to Manila and back)... but no question Francisco (Manuel's mad scientist mechanic) knows his ****, and does good work.

The fact that he's halfway round the world from you would put me off though.

Then again, he HAS delivered a 522 wheel HP, 10.9 second Evo... :D

Cheers!

Bear in mind, he is running his car on very high octane fuel!

Still, would have been interesting to see what was possible without the funny fuel. Would still have been very high (over 400 for sure at the wheels).

I have lost Manuel's email. can you or he email me: tony.rodriguez@ntlworld.com
