Unfortunately over the past week there have been a few teams drop out of the MLR500, but every cloud has a silver lining and in this case it's meant it's allowed us to rethink the timetable.
Although there are still 19 teams taking part we believe that with some cars always being in the Paddock for driver changes, refuelling or "repair" - before you even get into attrition - the number on track will be reduced to a realistic level.
So the revised timetable now looks like this, which we hope will get the thumbs up from everyone!
8:00–9:00: Driver registration, wristband collection and briefing
8:30–10:00: Scrutineering
9:30–11:30: Free practice
11:30 - 12:00: Lunch break / car maintenance
12:00 - 12:40: Qualifying
12:50 - 13:00: Grid lineup
13:00–17:00: MLR500
17:15: Prize giving
18:00: Bar opens in the MLR500 marquee
Driver's Registration
From 8am all drivers must register in the marquee and attend a briefing, after which they will be given a wristband.
Scrutineering
Will be managed by three qualified MLR members for safety purposes, so please ensure your car is safe prior to arriving at Blyton; seats, belts, windows, brakes, battery, fuel lines, tyres, exhaust, roll cages and all non-factory bodywork additions are secure! If in doubt review the MLR500 regulations (http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?threadid=98022) again, because if your car is not considered safe it will not be allowed to take part. All cars which pass scrutineering will be given a "Passed" sticker.
Practice
All drivers must take part in the practice session so they can experience the circuit and understand how the car will behave around it. It is the team's responsibility to ensure all it's drivers have completed a practice session. Once completed you will be given another wristband. If you do not have both wristbands you will not be able to drive in the event.
Qualifying
We have also introduced a proper qualifying period. This will be run one car at a time, in car number order, with a driver chosen by each team. They will have one lap from standstill to set a time which will dictate where the car starts on the grid.
The MLR500
The MLR500 will now consist of one 4 hour endurance event and include all teams together. For final rules, regs and details about marshalling, flags, the sin bin etc., go to this thread (http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?threadid=120626)
The Awards
Awards will be presented to the teams who win each class; A) front wheel drive, B) rear wheel drive and C) four wheel drive. There will also be awards for "Favourite MLR500 Car" which will be voted on by everyone attending the event, and also "Spirit of the MLR500" for the team we feel got the most involved with event.
Here's to a great event!
