View Full Version : HKS Turbo Elbow - front pipe replacement?

I've got the HKS turbo elbow which comes with it's own down pipe as the exit position of the 'elbow' is different to standard.

The front pipe isn't stainless and is starting to wear at the point that it curves to go underneath the car - this is exposed to all the crap, water, etc on the roads.

Does anyone know where you can get a replacement one of these - apparently they are not sold separately by HKS. I can get a replacement made but that would mean taking it off the car for a few days - wondered if anyone else had the same issue and had found a replacement, preferably stainless!

Cheers,

Kevin.

Sorry to butt in chaps but this is interesting.

I'm on the verge of buying a turbo elbow pipe, downpipe and de-cat to mate up to my Blitz cat back. I was intending to buy the HKS unit for all in about £540 but I didn't realise you could buy the elbow seperately?

Not really bothered about shiny HKS stuff, but just want more horses per GB pounds.

So could I buy the HKS turbo elbow (assuming no one else makes a cheaper option) and then buy the mongoose downpipe and another de-cat to mate up ok? Would a Magnex downpipe fit a HKS elbow?

Sorry about all the questions but its really (bhp per £) important ;)

Cheers,

Jeff

Evo400 - Cheers, will check that out.

Bream - no, i don't believe it's possible to buy the turbo elbow on it's own - comes as a 2 piece kit AFAIK

PE turbo elbow, downpipe & de-cat £954+vat

And no, you can't buy the elbow seperately, already asked

Any other ideas before I part with my cash for the HKS option??

Just buy the powerengineering downpipe without their decat!

Then add a magnex or other decat, or do the same modification as evoboy and ryan.

Evoboy, what is the price of the pe downpipe?

Cheers Evoboy & Maxi,

Sorry my mistake, the £954+VAT was for the RC system, DOH

Just spoken to PE and as Evoboy said they are in one section, but apparently I will need their extension pipe to connect up whatever de-cat I buy.

Front Pipe = £220 + VAT
Extension = £120 + VAT
De-cat = £46.80 + VAT
Therefore, all in all = £454.49 incl VAT

Against the HKS option = £528.75 incl VAT

So the question remains, is the HKS option worth an extra £74.26?

The main real difference seems to be in the material, ironically the HKS systems is made from normal mild steel (as quoted in Evilution’s original post) and the PE kit is 100% stainless!

Therefore, I reckon the PE option is the best by far and best of all it’s on the shelf today :) I heard the HKS option could takes weeks to turn up from Japan, so I think my minds about made up

Anyone got anything to say about the PE front pipe? Anyone got it fitted?

good choice if fitted with the blitz!
Just get a decat pipe not a sports cat, and ask evoboy details about fitting!

U R CORRECT AND FOR MORE THAN JUST THE MATERIAL !

Anyone got anything to say about the PE front pipe? Anyone got it fitted?

I HAVE THE PE FITTED TO MY EVO AND WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS ,THE DESIGN OF THE ELBOW (TURBO OUTLET) SECTION IS BETTER THAN THE HKS AND AS U HAVE FOUND THE PIPE IS ALL STAINLESS , A DEFINATE PLUS IF U EVER SELL IT. U WILL NEED THEIR EXTENSION PIPE TO ADAPT TO OTHER SYSTEMS. I ACTUALLY MADE MY OWN ADAPTOR PIPE IN THE DAYS B4 PE HAD THEIRS AVAILABLE. I SEE THEY HAVE REDUCED SINCE I BOUGHT MINE
