Hello Croz,

I have an Evo VII and want to change the exhaust. What did you do with the lambda probes??? What is a Decat??? Do you have to change the ECU to put a new exhaust system??

I will appreciate all the information that you can Offer me.

Hi Cesar,

A decat pipe is a straight-thru bit of pipe that replaces the catalyst section in the exhaust. You will feel an increase in power (especially at the top end) when replacing the restrictive standard exhaust with an aftermarket one and you do not need to replace the ECU.

I got my decat pipe fitted at the local Mitsubishi garage and I'm not sure what they did with the second lambda probe. I suspect they just disconnected it since as far as I know, the probe is just there to check that the catalyst is working OK (i.e. low emissions). I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will be able to confirm that.

As for which exhaust to choose, I have got a Hayward and Scott downpipe and decat pipe plus an HKS Hiper Muffler backbox which I'm very happy with. A lot of people on here have the Blitz Nur Spec-R which is very good or a Magnex system.
