View Full Version : Buying Tein kit - HA or RA?
Folks, I'm trying to decide whether the Tein HA or RA kit is best for my VI - the suspension needs beefing up for trackday use but still needs to be useable (but not necessarily comfortable) on UK public roads.
I have had good feedback from a couple of people running the HA kit. If anyone is using or has used the RA set up could you let me know what you think.
The price diff is not huge but I do not want something that gets bounced off the average 'B' road. (PS: Adam at Z1 Autos who posts here does a good price on this stuff if anyone is interested).
Thanks in advance,
Steve.

Not sure if you got my e-mail. Can you tell me what spec. of Tein kit you are running (HA/RA/etc)?
Ta in advance,

Rode with Hesperus 2 weeks ago with his newly installed TEIN HA. I have totally stock OEM suspension as I use it everyday and take it out of town regulraly and to our farm, so good basis for comparison. :)
Btw, before you guys snicker about my OEM suspension, wait 'till you see the roads in the Philippines, especially outside of Metro Manila where the roads resemble an SS in the Safari Rally! LOL! :)
With that off my chest, I have to say the TEIN HA pushes the limits of daily-drivability and going 10/10ths on B-roads. It won't knock your teeth-fillings off at its softest setting but can still probably cause testicular cancer when maxed out to its stiffest setting and used on ppublic roads.
IMHO TEIN HA is pretty good, RA might already be too stiff. Hesperus killed his CUSCO Comp-2 coil-overs because our roads were too rotten for it.
HTH! :)
RS Sprint,
Thanks for that - it was useful. Have heard that roads in the Philippines are not the smoothest on earth :). I've pretty much decided now, just checking the spring rates of both models with the supplier and comparing to feedback on other kit over here before I dent the credit card.
There don't seem to be many Tein fans over here in the UK - yet.
Regards,
Steve.

Sorry Guys
It is RA I have had I can describe it as awesome:D
Clive@RC was telling me it has 24 settings and it is set as the hardest.
I would recomend it as Mellow said it evens shine when lights reflect against the Green struts.;)
I would say it is money well spent it was a lot tighter on the track at Rockingham.

Dale - thanks mate. One more question - can you live with it on the road?
Hmm - decisions, decisions :)

Hi Steve
It is not to bad drove from Rockingham to Rochdale with and a couple of trips to Manchester Clive@RC says I can make it a bit softer if I want.
So far so good I am impressed.
Give Clive a ring at RC it was going on there demo car so that is a good recomendation for me:D

Check out www.tein.com so you can compare the spring rates of the HA and RA models. Very helpful.
Regarding TEIN not having many fans, you are right. I like TEIN because its good value PLUS these are rebuildable, unlike other Japanese brands wherein only some super high-end models are rebuildable or even none at all.
HTH! :)
