E5 standard suspension

I took a standard e5 for a test drive today (first one I've driven). I was lead to believe that it would pop my chalfonts due to the harsh/ bumpy ride. It was actually very comfortable, not bouncy or harsh, better in fact than the misses' Escort!

I was told that the 5 has a softer rebound rate than the 6. Is this true, or did I drive one with knacked springs?
