View Full Version : Group Buy Forum

Let's have a "Group Buy" Forum where people wanting this or that type of pad or disc or hose or boost controller or spark plug or whatever put their name.

A moderator or other good willing person could then email the link to the relevant suppliers willing to sell 5 or 10 units of the product at a preferential price.

I suppose this would be very useful, especially for wear and tear parts like tyres, brake parts and clutches.

Good thinking claude!! the only way this will happen is if enougth people post here and ask for it.

Claudius

In that case, I doubt it'll work; I have a feeling most people on here (not naming anybody, huh, Tony, right, Steve :D) LIKE to spend LOTS on parts ;)

can we not appoint a money man and all put in say £100 each then we can buy some stock to sell on . i for one would give that in order to save money on brake pads tyres etc . i most cases we could get full trade discount if we bought say 20 units . just imagine the full trade on pace intercoolers

Rosco, I meant TT, not you :)

JC, surely Justin didnt create a Group Buy Forum on this BBS a year ago?

No, but he does have a years worth of trading relationship with all the major suppliers, experience , is not greedy (i.e. passes discounts on) and is reliable.
who has the greater buying power ???

i am not against competition, but £100 each is not going to get you a lot of stock !

if you want more discount, open a trade account with your supplier ???

Claudius
08-09-2002, 10:35
JC, you are talking about what evo400 said. I am not talking about that, I think that's not a good idea; I am only saying we should have a forum dedicated to group buys, nothing more and nothing less.

V-Bird

We've done this on the LSOC and I sorted a group buy on the Supra site for their UK brakes saving each member at least £350! (still got banned though) tried to sort their Bushings as well but met with some apathy. No good deed left unpunished!

Go for it Claude, when a club gets together you can have real punch and get some serious discounts.

Examples
UK 4 pots front, UK price £800, club price £450
Ozzie bushings for front and rear, Specials from wel known UK supplier £175, from a well known Oz street racing tuner £85
Steering bushes, hard type, UK specialist £190, club from same team in Oz £65

Do this and everyone will benefit, apathy though is your enemy.

Claudius

No good deed goes unpunished, as you say.

It's just plain unbelievable, isnt it?

There should be 100 replies here already!

Let them pay loads, I get my stuff cheaper already anyway...

Nice idea :).

Been think how to implement it, which would be very simple. There is a facility within the board that will allow subscribed users to receive an automatic email when someone posts a new thread for a nominated forum. In this case this could be turned on for the Group Buy Forum and suppliers receive the request.

The success of it depends on how many suppliers sign up and then respond to any requests. In my experience most suppliers aren't great with email and some don't have it all :(.
