How about a "How to" section where people that have gone ahead and fitted bits to there motors share the experience with us less technicaly minded?

Nice idea, would be very useful I agree. We don't mind adding new sections to the board, but only do so if it looks like it would be used enough otherwise things just get out of hand like most boards out there.
I'm not sure there would be that much ongoing information in a How To section, but if enough people can contribute information it would be good to add it elsewhere on the site, like the FAQ section.

Rather than have it as a section on the forum, why not a fixed area like the Member's cars etc (although let's hope it takes less time to update cos I e-mailed my pics ages ago :)). It would mean someone would have to look after it and lay stuff out and whatnot but it's doable.
