View Full Version : Sequential Gearbox ??
Chaps,
Anyone know anything about sequential gearboxes ?
Whats out there for Evo's + anyone done it ??
I have a potential option on the horizon and need to be up to speed on this subject ??
Cheers
I ordered the Ikeya but not too sure if it is an actual sequential or just a bolt on.
sat in a evo6 in singapore two weeks ago and it look aggressive so i order it.
Steve Hill will put it on for me after he finish with my engine.
Just delivered the movit brakes to him on Monday.

If you mean this (http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/english/), then it's not a sequential gearbox, it just gives you a lever that moves forward to change down and backward to change up (instead of a 'H' gate). It looks to be quite a clever piece of engineering, but it's not a sequential gearbox.

Xtreme have been trying the Ikeya shift on their test car and say its great for the track but a pain for everyday driving. It appears that they do a lot of business in Russia where almost all Evo's are fitted with "dog" boxes and sequential shifts. Why? Because they can! It seems its just the thing that everybody does to Evo's in Russia. Must make them bitches to drive on the road.

Sorry for the double post, but I realised I should have answered the original question. A proper sequential box for an Evo costs about £60,000 - this is what they use in a WRC car. This will allow you not only to change gear just by proding the gear lever back and forth, but it will also allow clutchless shifts without lifting the throttle! However, if you abuse it too much it will need a rebuild. Some rally drivers go through 2 boxes a rally, maybe more!!!
Cheers chaps - I heard a sniff of something that is better suited for road use + MUCH cheaper than the rally drivers option! (although still not buttons) - will let you know more when I do

Congrats, first British MLR member who buys decent brakes.
BTW somehow the Russians have to find a way for money laundry e.g. buy some dog box kits;)

scobbymike,
I am a singaporean not British yet, they want £300k investment in government shares or bonds in order to give me a passport. Rather spend my money on my evo instead.
can you imagine what £30K would do to my car?
bringing the stroker kit/tomei cams to Steve Hill tomorrow and when they finish with engine work, movit will be installed.
