18" wheels, for better or worse?

I am contemplating 18" wheels for my 6 GSR and would like to know if anybody out there has incurred problems by fitting a larger wheel size. I am trying to acheive a filled arch look like the latest BMW M3. Would I need to have the car lowered as well to achive this? If so, is there any problems to be expected there?

Really would appreciate the advice!

I think you would also need it lowered. My V pictured here (http://www.lancerregister.com/bbs/showthread.php?threadid=10128) has 18's and Eibach springs, which lower it by 28mm at the front and 14mm at the rear..... No probs, apart from rubbing from the front on full lock, but I think that's against the mudflaps.....
