Here's a summary of results from The Racing Line today.

Thanks to everyone who attended and Conrad, Matt and everyone else at The Racing Line for a great day.

We couldn't get accurate torque figures for jonny or kev because they were wheel spinning on the rollers

On behalf of the Racing line we (Conrad, Matt & team) would just like to say a big thankyou to all who attended the rolling road day yesterday. I think it was an excellent day and I believe everybody enjoyed themselves. A big thankyou also goes to DaveG and Darin for a well organised event.

Cryptwalk.... tut tut tut... lol

I will let you all know when I find out the date of the REDLINE feature of the day.

In terms of our fan size, the comments have been taken on board and a new large fan will be sourced asap.

Any further comments to make the day better next time will be taken on board.

Cheers

Conrad

PS: Everybody's tyre pressures were setup to the same pressure, this is a Dyno Dynamics requirement for "shootout" mode.

It looks like you all had a great time :D

Conrad, can you let us know where the inlet temp probe was placed please? I assume it was at the air filter, since this is where WRC put it and DD in the UK now recommend.

The only reason I ask is that some of the graphs posted show some very high inlet temps.

Just wondering why you have a figure of 254
for my car and my graph says 262
thanks paul

Guys to clarify:

All tyre pressures on all cars were set to the recommended pressure for the power runs.

The air temp probe was placed at the air filter not in the charge stream on all cars, those with induction kits the probe was next to the filter, those with standard airboxes still in place it was in the scoop feeding the airbox.

things to note...

Standard cars were making standard power on the day.

A car that ran 308 ATW at WRC 3 weeks ago ran 311 ATW yesterday, now thats DD consistency for you.

Two Ralliart ECU'd cars both showed the same problem even though they ran at different times of the day. They were both lean in the same place and iirc they were within 5 bhp of eqach other.

Our fan was directed at the intercooler rather than the air intake, we figure its better to try & cool the charge temp rather than get cold air to blow over the airfilter.

It was clear early on in the day that having the bonnets shut on the 5 & 6's was causing too much underbonnet heat and the decision was made to run with the bonnet up. This improved things dramatically.

The length of time the cars were left idling prior to running also played a big part in the underbonnet temps.

Hope this helps.

Paul, it doesnt get much better than a 3 hp difference from one DD rolling road to another, especially when run on different days ;)

Thanks Conrad - the DD roads do certainly seem consistant

Good day alround and thanks to Dave,Darin, Conrad etc for sorting this :)

Conrad you need to work on your conversions though as despite me arguing that 20psi on mine was 1.4 bar you were firm it was 1.6  .....wouldnt of said anything more but seen a few other people mention on here the same thing...get yer calculator out or check here http://www.unitconversion.org/unit_converter/pressure.html

:)

Catch you all again soon and hopefully with a drop more power and torque :D

Cheers

Divide your boost on the day by 14.7 =bar

My inlet temps were 51 deg with bonnet shut would have liked to see results with bonnet up, anyway new bigger intercooler on way and good results for 1.6bar :)

Thanx Racingline ,Darin ,Dave and rest MLR was a good day all in all ;)

Cheers Adam

My graph, apparently it was running lean and starting to det  and had retarded the ignition and this on less than 1.2 bar

Cheers Conrad for a good day, suprising results for me as you could see. Didnt spot you messing with tyres, hope you put them back to 28 as I havent! :)

Turns out the car is running a standard ecu, previous owner confirmed. Just a special car it seems.

Johnny - what did you do to the car since the RR day at Silverstone? You got 483ATW (635ATF) back then and now you've got 532ATW (700ATF)!!!

BTW - I'm the guy that remembers you from Champs ;)

Some of these figures seem a little 'odd'

R1 GOOD 344 torque in MLR modified but only 280 yesterday, amongst others

Gav, mine torque was down too

Conrad,

Sounds like a well run event :coolsm: ; just one question- why do you suffer from wheelspin whereas other DD RR don't?

Regards
Simon

Figures seem to be all ovet the place IMO. Ralliart ECU 30 hp up on a fully mappable, etc.

Crypt's 'standard' MR putting out mapped ECU figs just being 2 examples.

But as has been mentioned, standard cars returing standard figures.

Strange.

Gazzor

Crypt has said they did not inflate his tyres to 45psi if he was running 28psi would his figures be higher, he was at the end of the day and the guys will have been tired and high on the fumes

Do other DD rollers run tyres at 45 psi

Surely over inflated, less grip

ALAN IV

Marvin off here was doing the tyres at WRC, he was putting 30psi @ front and 29psi @ the rear i think.

Cryptwalk
19-02-2006, 22:01
Conrad said he did the tyres, I just didnt see anyone touch them but then at first I wassent paying much attention then after I was confused. :D

It is strange, I think ll be getting along to another RR at some point soon to check figures. Not that I dont believe the racing line just id like to double check as imo 400 is a lot. Though the car is rapid. :coolsm:

Gazzor

You jammy foo ker :D

Conrad

All tyres were set to the Dyno Dynamics recommended value for "shootout mode" they were all returned back to there original figures before it left the dyno.

Simon, not sure why were getting so much slip on the higher powered cars. We managed to get a clear run out of the Norris Design car but the RC cars power delivery was brutle and just spun up when we it got to 6000 rpm. It is something we intend to chase up with Dyno Dynamics.

Mine only ran 1.7 bar boost on the rollers on saturday which explains the lower readings compared to WRC last year when it was 1.9 bar.
Thanks to Dave and eveyone else who organised the day.
Nice to meet a few people too!

i wouldnt rush off too quickly as my car was showing extremely lean and i have just checked it and there is nothing wrong with it, therefore i think the readings were a bit messed up on saturday

Spoke to WRC today & booked it in for health check just to be on the safe side ;)

Dave have you still got to add the rest that have posted or do you need better graphs ?...heres mine in case you missed it :)...must of been from earlier run than one you noted down as slightly more power :)...let me know if you need more info.

well as i gave my details to dave ididnt look at mine too much as i never read too much into dyno figs but it seems i had a good pull

basiclly it does what it says on the tin and what simon predicted and for the power it produces and the way it delivers is awesome :coolsm: so im well pleased,

great day nice to meet some new faces

just had mine checked and it's running fine NOT lean as previously stated, now feel a bit gutted that travelled 2hours only to have my car not even run up properly so couldn't even get a base reading to go from

As Alan said, I checked all the tyres @ WRC and DaveG PM'd me to ask what I'd set them at so they could do the same here.
I used Mitsi's 32F 29R
So you can all rule out tyre pressures whilst on your witch hunts ;)

wonder how much people spent on the basis of what they were informed on that day, know it cost me 100quid and half a days work, some probably alot more
