View Full Version : Southern R/R Day 24 Feb
Anyone else going to Tuning Japanese in Aldershot on 24 Feb? (Blowdog, might be a bit easier than Leeds for you!)
Steve.
More details please? I assume it is MLR members only? (I MUST SEND OFF FOR MEMBERSHIP SOON....ARGH!)
I am only just down the road and I would be interested to know what my stock E6 is outputting.
Hornet,
Check out the events section - Darin will confirm details soon. All I know right now is that its in Aldershot on Feb 24.
Steve.
Hi all,
The second MLR Rolling Road day at Tuning Japanese, Aldershot (www.tuning-japanese.co.uk) is all go for Saturday 24 February and will feature;
* maximum care of your car; extra cooling, temperature probes etc.
* minimum two power runs per car
* comprehensive graph plotting power curve, torque curve, maximum boost, as well as exhaust and oil temps, etc.
* T-J staff on hand to explain the graphs
* prize for highest power figure of the day
* 5% discount on all parts ordered on the day; T-J stock upgrades from HKS, Mongoose, Trust, Apexi to name a few!
* 10% discount on parts if you've spent your hard-earned elsewhere and your car doesn't perform as expected (see Tim @ T-J on the day)
* free tea and coffee throughout the day
* catering on site for snacks
* other freebies
* Tim is also quietly confident they'll be able to cure any little niggles your car may be suffering from, so although the day is primarily aimed at power runs, they'll delve a little deeper if time allows!
Cost for a place on the day is only £25. To book please send your cheque to PO Box 2740, Radstock, Bath, BA3 2XZ along with both yours and your cars details. If you have any further questions please email me at darin@lancerregister.com

Count me in.
How about a wooden spoon for the lowest output of the day as I'm running low on kitchen utensils! [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/biggrin1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e13-->

can non members come along too. If not can membership fee be sent to the same address?
Colin,
They'll be places for at least 20 cars on the day - so far there are only 4 booked; 2 Evo6's, an Evo1 and a modified GSR1800 . . . . where are you all??!
The first mag of 2001 will be in postboxes across the globe at the end of Feb but I apologies for the delay in sending out all the new memberships - I am STILL waiting for the new decals to be sent through. I appreciate everyone's patience, and as soon as I have them I'll get them all in the post.
Stage1GSR,
Sure, please come along - we don't bite(!) and as with all MLR events, non members are always welcome.
Cheers,
I would not mind coming to the rolling road day in Aldershot.I am not a member as yet but I have filled in the form on the web and sent in my cheque for membership. Will I be enrolled in time?

Darin.....
Do I have to pay up front or can I do that on the day????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Hi Darin
Could you save me a place
Thorak
Iceman, Thorak
I'm happy to save places and for you to pay on the day, but I have to give priority to everyone who sends me cold-hard-cash up front! If there are still places available on the day then no problem, but if you can give me 'financial confirmation' I'd appreciate it. . . . hope that doesn't sound tooo mercenary!!
Thanks,
I shall send a cheque in the post tonight then to save my place.

Told you, there sent it.
How many have we got confirmed now Darin?
Power Engineering did offer to bring their converted test Evo along if he could make it and there was space for him, have a look at POWER ENGINEERING ECU topic under the Engine/Engine tuning forum. David Powers comment about the RR day is the 13th thread down. If people do want him to come make sure he coughs up the £25 though...hehe
At the time of writing there are 12 cars booked (including Richard’s modified 1800 GSR, an Evo1, Evo4, Evo5, and a host of 6’s) - or 13 if you include the radio-controlled beastie! but that number may well change after visiting the PO Box on Tuesday. I’ll certainly give Dave Power a call on Monday to see if he can spare the time to come down – let’s hope so as it should make for an even more interesting day for everyone.
We (me and Tim and the rest of the TJ staff) will be there from around 8:30am with the aim of getting the first car on the rollers at 9am, and although it would be great to see everyone there at the crack-of-dawn I understand this is a Saturday and you want your beauty sleep (!), but as long as one or two cars are present first thing we’ll be able to get the show on the (rolling) road!
Details of how to get there etc will be in the post tomorrow. See you all on the 24th . . . .

I should be able to get there early as I am only about 10-20 miles down the road. Is there plenty of parking?
Shouldn't be a problem at all, it was fine last time - in both space and weather terms!

Colin et all,
Spoke to David Power this morning and he has confirmed that he'll be coming along too which is great news, as I know there'll be a lot of people interested in P.E.'s car - and talking David's ears off!!
Darin,
sorry for the delay but i've been very busy. I posted my cheque etc today so you should get it tommorow. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Kevin (and everyone else)
I will be there early (hopefully) with my stock (apart from front factory strut brace) Iceelle blue E6 GSR Import. Reg is N6 GSR so come and have a chat. I am particularly interested in listening to peoples exhausts as I want to upgrade mine. I am keen on the Magnex but I think it may be too loud for my tastes, just have to wait and see (or should that be hear?).
Cheers
Colin Booker
I'm another person planning to come along and meet all of you other EVO Boy's and to skip the rolling road this time.
Like Heave Ho I am looking to carry out various modifications to my car and will welcome all of your views and opinions.
Am coming from Bristol, so if anyone wants to meet up en route or get a lift, please e-mail or reply to this thread.

DISASTER!
I was driving home tonight and something let go big time in the engine, it might have been the turbo (let go when coming on boost) or possibly a valve but I'm not sure. There is a fairly loud ticking from the top of the engine
although just after it happened it was still running OK but I dared not to try reving it! My car is now booked in to be sorted, I am not sure of how much its going to cost but being an Evo it will probably be mega bucks!
For obvious reasons I won't be able to make the R/R day [img]http://www.ltregister.f9.co.uk/graphics/sad1.gif border|EQU| 0 align|EQU| absmiddle ><!--e2-->
Lifes a bitch sometimes!
Colin,
What a bummer! Hope it isn't too serious. Have you tried selling your place to anyone on the board? - at least you'll get your 25 quid back! Also might be worth coming down anyway to meet everyone if you can get alternative transport (want a lift?)
Steve.
Heave Ho Six
20-02-2001, 16:51
I have emailed Darin already regarding the R/R day and I am awaiting a reply. I have transport and I might be able to make the day but I have a big bottle of Whiskey that keeps tempting me to drown my sorrows! I will see anyway.
Colin,
Hopefully you've received my reply - unless of course you're referring to another mail you've sent since! Whatever, I'm really sorry to hear your engine's let go - fingers crossed that the fix isn't too costly. I hope you'll still be able to get down to T-J on Saturday to see everyone and have a chat - it may be well worth picking some of the brains that'll be present on the day . . . . and don't forget you aven't picked up yer mug yet!!
Everyone,
I'll post a full list of cars booked in for the day on Thursday evening. Watch this space it'll make interesting reading!!

I should be able to make the day as I emailed you Darin and it looks like I will be the official photogragher for MLR although I will probably have to leave middayish. Should have enough time to see all your motors and have a quick cry in the bushes.
Cool, sounds exciting.
I will 'try' to get down in time (have to go to Dragon in the morning to sort out discs)

What time is the testing start ?
Hi all,
So here's the list of Saturday's duellers . . . .
Evo 6 Extreme 450
Evo 6 RS Sprint
Evo 6 GSR (11 in varying states of tune!)
Evo 5 GSR
Evo 4 GSR
Evo 4 RS
Lancer 1800 GSR (modified)
Lancer Turbo
Sierra Cosworth 3 door and amp; a Sierra Cosworth Sapphire (well why not?!)
. . . . and with all the others that I hear may be turning up for a chat and to see who's the Roller King, I reckon it's gonna be a busy ol' day. See you there - action starts at 9am.
All the best,
Ooops!
Nearly forgot . . . we thought the most powerful Evo over three RR days and amp; venues should receive a little something from the MLR (don't get too excited!)
So what figure's gonna be the one to beat?????
Slaphead/C2GSR
Is everything still on for the morning?
If not ring me as I will not get another chance to look on the forum again.
See you both in the morning

Sorry to mess you all about but I cannot make the R/R day as I am going to inspect the damage to my Evo engine. Looks like its fatal and a new engine is required.
Colin
Darin
Is the entry closed for saturday as i would like to put mine on the rollers if possible, can be up early as live local.
Regards Dave
