What is the format of the day as i have never done anything like this before ??
Cheers Mike
Mike the format is a tried and tested MLR Sprint Day :D
The track is set for one car @ a time to record a lap time.
The morning s open session practice to get a feel for the surface layout and car set up.
After a short lunch we open the afternon to 3 timed laps per driver which are the only ones which count on the leader board.
The cars are seperated into modified and std ish. ;)
The cost is only Fifty pounds or for two sharing a car seventy five pounds for the day.
This is a great value day and a chance for you to meet some other members.
If you need any other info let me know places are limited to 20 cars and a said MLR have piority until the beginning of the month then other invited cars will fill the spaces.

Blacky very funny i was thinking helium in the tyres make the car lighter :D
Rob thank you for your payment will be good to see you there!
We did some set up laps the other night :D :D
Cheers Liam :coolsm:
Set up laps!!!
That means you have an unfair advantage of knowing the track, I think its only fair that we impose a weight penalty to you, which means you have to take either Benny or me as passenger on your timed runs to add ballast ;)
There will be pleanty of time in the morning to learn the track, then to the task in hand getting the fast timmed one in ;)
I recomend throwing out balast on the timmed runs
Liam
PS i have had a wooden spoon made for the slowest lap just hope i dont end up winning it.
Carbon tape........don't think so :p . Its a proper one matey so you be afraid!!!  Check us out with our lightweight goods!!!
As for the wooden spoon Liam, you may as well get it made up now with Logan the Slowgun on it!!!!
Finally in an attempt to help Logan and I not win the spoon I have invited a few other owner clubs along:
www.iownasaxowithneons.com
www.novasrock.com
www.vectrasarethepoormansevo.com
And the competition blows wide open............
Hi everyone,
On the day i will need some helpers with the running of the day.
The main job i need to fill is Data Inputting the Lap times into the PC as they are recorded, this is a job for the day.
Me, Benny and Darin will sort the Time beam, registration and linning cars up.
Cheers Liam :)
No worries mate. I'll be there to help........ ;)
Liam
All paid up for the sprint and thanks for the advice on Monday regarding the Walbro pump, cheers Richard

First time for everyone :D
This is a new venue.
Just take it slowly at first to learn the layout.
Once off the line you will be in second gear all the way round to the finish.
Four wheel drifting a couple of corners,
I did try and video a lap with liam, but it didn,t come out to well.
Drive as slow as you like, there,s no prizes for sticking it in the barriers.
I tip benny for the win :coolsm:
I tip me for the wooden spoon
Just take it slowly at first to learn the layout.

Sorry peeps, don't think I can make this now, was holding off to see if I could but I can't :(

Benny,
Thanks for the concern.
Unfortunately I still have a power steering leak and gearbox leak despite whipping the transfer box off to try and sort both. I think the gearbox leak is simply a case of being overfilled but the power steering is more serious and probably will mean a complete overhall of the rack so it won't be ready in time :(
Next one for sure :smthumbup
Next one for sure
Gonna hold you to that.......... ;)

It will be appearing on track at the Rallyday this year along wth loads of others. It's 100 years of Lancia celebrations this year and 20 years of the Delta 4WD so we are having a dedicated track session and a nice feature in the programme. :D

Liam Looks like I might be competing for this now, if at all. Am having yet more suspension problems :frust:
Nick @ NR tried to adjust the damping a couple of weeks back but found that one of the rears is unadjustable. STR had the back legs off today and we have found that one of the rear dampers hasn't been made properly (not quite sure how this went undetected for so long, but still).
Now have a set of HKS dampers on the back and a set of Ohlins on the front. This feels great in a straight line/when you are driving normally, but as soon as you start to push on, the rear of the car develops a bit of an appetite for overtaking the front
Just hope the rear Ohlins are back again before the sprint
All the best getting sorted Mick, your set up has been a bit of a pain to get settled problem part are the last thing you needed.
Come on guys we need just a few more bookings. £50 for a great day out get your name down.

Disappointing response really. In a way its a good thing as we'll have more track time but if we don't cover the cost then we won't get a repeat event.

Just been down to the track, walking the layout so i know where to go :D
Benny is blacky still double driving the scooby?? does that count for two scooby,s beating you. :D
Dont forget what i told you ;)
Polish the car, cuts through the air a bit better.
Take out the spare wheel and rear seat,
Run the car nearly empty, you will only need a couple of gallons all day,
That should save you .1 of a second maybe :D

Guys I think im going to have to pull out of this, we've one of the guys off work untill Tuesday next week and ive got to fill in. Ive also been informed by the GF we have a wedding to attend in the early evening on Friday.
Really sorry to have to pull out seens as numbers are low, the register can keep the £50 towards the cost of the day. :(
  Sorry to hear that Rob pitty you can not fit everything in.

Yeah sorry Liam, its 3 and a half hours from here, The way I was going to do it was to stay at a travelodge (when I booked I was going to do this but with numbers being small id be there on my own and I bore the hell out of myself after a while) . So I was going to drive down at 6am :blah: If I could get the day off - looking like I have to work atm, I'd still have to leave by 230 to get to this wedding. :(
Quick question:-
How far is this Sprint from Silverstone, as I'm there on Friday and may have a look, if time allows?

Tom tom says: 91.3 mile 2:13 mins (fastest rioute). Thats general Silverstone area to the sprint track.

Cheers Crypt.
Had a quick look at road atlas, and there doesn't appear to be any direct or main routes from Silverstone to the Norfolk Sprint
As i'm driving up from down south, it'll take me about 3 - 3 1/2 hours to get to Silverstone without the additional travelling to the Sprint, then a 5 hour drive home. :(
Think I would have made an appearance if it was say only an extra hour of travelling.
Ah well, sorry just a little too far for me......shame.

I know, its not good........ :( All I can suggest if you do another one to maybe involve the Scoobs from the start and give them loads of notice, then a few more might be interested.
BTW, why is the Mad Monk not doing this
Fairly happy with the RR day, bhp was pretty much spot on, torque was a tad low, but Clive put that down to the fuel and the fact I have never done a ECU reset since owning it, so with a ECU reset and some fresh Optimax and octane booster I would have seen slighty stronger torque and maybe a few extra ponies!
But, it is running fine, so I am happy as its complety stock at the mo, and the gearing makes it quicker than other cars with more BHP ;)
Looks like I will have to get up early Friday, flying back tomorrow night, get home late, then will have to get up real early to fit new brake pads, and maybe wash the beast due to it being filthy and sitting at Stansted

Damn shame Rob......was looking forward to meeting you. Maybe next time....... YOu should've said about the staying over thing matey. I am sure either myself or Liam would've quite happily put you up for the night....... ;)
Silverstone to the sprint would probably be no more than 2 hours max I reckon. Done it before and lets face it we hardly drive at 60mph everywhere do we?? ;)
BTW, why is the Mad Monk not doing this
Two reasons. Firstly, his car is still in bits after blowing it up on Xmas Eve and he flies out to Oz on Friday..... :(
All I can suggest if you do another one to maybe involve the Scoobs from the start and give them loads of notice, then a few more might be interested.
We posted the event on Scoobynet on 1st March. I would have thought 4 and a half weeks would be enough??
Can't believe we can't get more than 10 cars for this. Oh well, as long as we cover the costs of the day etc then I suppose its ok but would've been nice to see more support.
They are all afraid of getting beaten by the BMW…
Them and me both........ ;) :p
Another Scoob has joined the ranks..so another person to beat Benny ;)
Looks like my Dad won't be able to make it, so its only me trashing my Scoob now

Thanks Liam
Benny Logan had a great drive but of course you are faster out the lights

Great little friendly tussle with a certain scooby, but the evo won the day :D
Fantastic day, about time i won a sprint, just need the fast boys at the next one.
Nobody hit anything, and i dont think there were any car problems all day :)
Thanks to darin for coming over, and liam for sorting the venue.
Lets get it on again :coolsm:
What was the track like to drive Alan? Quick like Barkston or tight like Haynes?
Cheers
Mark
Big well done to blacky ;)
Showed a few evo,s how its done today.
Most people were knocking 4/5 seconds off their morning times.
Some good times for first time sprinters. :coolsm:
Now you all Know why its great fun,and you cant do this on the road. Not without losing your licence :(
Marky, hi mate.
It is pretty tight all the way round, 1st and 2nd gear only.
Not as hard on the car as haynes around the radius, but there are some slow corners.
Its fast enough in the right places, where theres room to stop if you get in trouble.
Not as fast as barkston :D

I stand here a beaten man and by the better driver. Logan led from the first lap and although I managed to knock 5 secs off by the end of the day Logan improved as well. In the end there was 3 seconds between us. :)
Superb day, can't wait for the next event. I think i've got the bug now though. Drove like a complete mentalist all the way home to Attleborough!!!! :coolsm:

Would just like to add my thanks for what was a great day, can't think of a better way to spend 50 quid :D :D :D :D
Great meeting all you chaps, good atmosphere, well run and a good little battle with a Evo 4 as well ;) Thought I best let Alan win tho as I want to be invited back to the next one   ;)
No it was close, 0.09 secs in the end, and I proved that maybe all Scoobies don't understeer :p
Just sitting enjoying a beer now, quite tired after all the excitement.

well done for today.
But dont get carried away, there were no real fast Evo's there today, all respect to everyone who took part, but Mt evo on the last Haynes sprint showed class shines above spec
When you beat him or others in his league will you be recognised as beeing really good :D
sorry to bring you back to reality :p

With respect to your comment Corbs, maybe if some "real fast evo's" had made the effort to come we could have seen their class! :)
I had a really good day and those who were there would agree, roll on the next one!
Not sure why you posted, but if I came across at being big headed about coming second then sorry, but as far as I am aware I never stated I was a great driver in anyway
And as peeps will tell ya, my spec is not amazing. ie its standard bar adjusted geometry on different springs.
Hope to see you at the next one :D

Yep your defo right Neverman, and you can only beat who's there on the day ;)
Iam not diss anyone, but you no yourself from all the sprints you have done,Haynes,Topgear, totb, and the new northern sprint.
There are names that stand out on all of those, and iam afraid there were there none there today :D

I posted as a Mlr regular at sprints,no you were not coming across a being bigheaded at all,why were you feeling that way
Great drive :D
I was just stating on competion thats all, calm down!
Totally agree with you paul :D you only have to beat the quickest car on the day, and logan put up a good fight.
I could name a few guys off here that would of beaten me no problem, but they werent there.
MT
GAZ
KNOXVILLE
CRYPTWALK
DLYSPEED
plus a few others
Those named have beaten me every time i came up against them, but only by 2/3 seconds.
This sprint is totally different to haynes and grantham and would not suit high powererd cars, hence me beating paul this time around.
I am sure he will take revenge at the next grantham sprint :D
You turn up, you try your best, but most of all you enjoy yourself :D and today was my day ;)

Sorry Corbs but I dont understand your point??
If Loeb didn't turn up for a rally and gronholm won would you say he didnt really win coz Loeb weren't there??
Bottom line is we had 12 people turn up and whilst the competition was serious we all had a laugh.
As Blacky says his car is completely standard and kept up with a car with nearly 100bhp and 100ft lbs of torque more than him..........he is a good driver. End of............
As far as I am concerned if some of the big names had turned up then yeah, woohoo we could have seen some real class but as it is we just just saw raw class and a bunch of guys having a blast.
Finally as a reply to your last post....Vendetta?? Don't get what you are trying to say there but if you reply to every thread with these kind of comments then I can see why there would be......

I was just sticking to our agreement mate ... you were supposed to beat Logan for the class B trophy ( which may I remind you, you failed to do. Not that I'm rubbing it in or anything :mockery: ), and I was supposed to make sure that the Scoobs didn't even take the wooden spoon home!
Pfff ... OK ... I admit it ... I was crap
I had a great day though :D
corbs, if you look at the times at haynes apart from MT and knox 70.? and 71.? repectfully.
These are the top sprinters in the club.
My time at haynes is 74.90 and there are 18 other drivers quicker than me, of which half of them are in the 74,s as well.
This sprint is around 22 seconds shorter than haynes so it will make all the times compact.
ie 2seconds quicker at haynes might only be 1 sec here.
The only way we will know is if some of the quick guys come play next time :D
corbs,
Looking forward to mallory in the old girl ;)
will be looking to follow you around :coolsm:

what was your time at haynes, 74.95 from memory :D

There is no point to my relply, just a observation :D
Sorry you obviously dont no what has had happend on the Mlr lately,Crypt
Anyway Corbs over and out
Speka de Engleees??
Sorry mate, don't get you. Rob was supposed to come today but something prevented him coming................
I am clearly not new to the MLR with 1800 posts but I am new to sprints. I have heard all about the big players and have had the chance to meet and talk to most of them.
In essence then we should say that although today was a great day and one of the first of its kind in our area we should wipe out everything we have achieved and learnt just coz the sprint regulars didn't attend.
I aint getting into an arguement with you but you really have ****ed me off. What the **** has this got to do with you anyway??
Pfff ... OK ... I admit it ... I was crap
I think you were doomed after you first lap mate. I used half my camcorder battery on that lap alone.......... :D
I doesn't matter mate. What matters is we all had a grand day and showed support for the MLR in our region.
Good seeing you again mate.

What the hell though . . . it was a bl00dy great day - great driving, great atmosphere and great weather, thanks to Liam for pulling it all together and everyone who came along and had a good time! :smthumbup :)
We'll be doing it again soon . . . . . when I'm sure Benny will get under 2.00sec 0-64ft time!!! :D

What an absolutley brilliant day.
My first sprint ever and I can safely say I prefered it to a trackday at Snetty. It was such a test of skill and because you never get the chance to build up too much speed there's very little chance of a serious off. Not to mention the fact it only cost £50 and used half a tank of fuel.
Massive thanks to Liam, Darin and all the rest of the Evo boys who made us feel more than welcome.
Thanks to Logan for showing the Evo's what a standard classic scoob is capable of in the right hands. Wish I'd never sold mine now :(
Great meeting everyone today and look forward to doing it again soon.
Pics and vids to follow (if i don't collapse into a coma).
rich,
I am ashamed to say i got a unrecorded time due to my thinking it was a rally cross event
It would be good if you and cath can get to this years grantham sprint, its more flowing than haynes and is a very good track.
Loads of track time due to more than one car on the track at a time.
The start line is not also the finish line, and there no crossing over so 3/4 cars out together evenly spaced out.
Last year i think it was gaz, knox and rob in the top three.
Paul (neverneverman) 4th and me 5th.
Get yourself over there and lets have a play :D
c u soon
alan
Might have been handy last night if I had the presence of mind to post the winning times / groups for the day!
They were:
Group A: Alan IV (Evo4) - 51.62 secs
Group B: Logan (Impreza) - 51.71 secs
0-64ft: Alan IV - 1.93 secs
A list of all the times will be posted shortly.
Ok, thanks again to everyone that took part yesterday :)
What i will say is, this was a very relaxed day, competition wise.
Only two of us taking part had sprinted before, me and paul (neverneverman 1 sprint?)
Paul was the only car to change rims on to semi-slicks.
All other cars ran an, as road set up, ie road tyres, all seats, spare wheels, jacks etc still in the cars :D
I never even took my tyres i normally use for sprinting, knowing that would just give me a unfair advantage :D
If cryptwalk had of come, i would of used them to try and beat him for once :D
Hopefully next time we will get some bigger names at the sprint, and the locals can use what they learned yesterday to maybe take a few scalps???
Bring it on.

Was there much run off?
That was always a big fear for me at Haines, mistakes could be punished severly.
Will keep an eye out for the next one though.

 It should be my name up there alongside the 0-64ft times. I reckon out of nearly 20 runs I hit 2 seconds flat over 10 times. Just could not get under 2 secs.
Saying that though looking at the results 2 secs was a good time and 2nd best all day and considering I'm in grp B I am quite chuffed. I knew buying a paddle clutch had its advantages!!!
Can't make the Lincs one though as I am in Flordia  Gutted
benny, i dont have a paddle clutch so no excuse :D
Alan, did you go down to 1st gear on the hairpin?
Rich, yes mate thanks for the advice. :smthumbup

Hope to see you at the next one.

Can't make the Lincs one though as I am in Flordia  Gutted
I had a 1.96 Benny :moon:

Still rather better than my best launch though  :D
Danny you might have had the sub 2 sec launch in practice? How is your clutch??
My gear selection felt i little tight this morning, hope the Std clutch is not about to fall out the car

I was so used to launching my classic scoob I forgot I carried the extra weight. The standard clutch didn't like the 5k+ rpm launches much :D
