People,

before i have a look in the workshop manual,

after how many miles should i change the gearbox oil. I was told the car had had a full service when i got her 6months ago( where the hell did that time go!), but when i had the AYC fluid changed i was told it was really dirty so it makes me a little sus.....
i've done approx 4000 miles and as stated earlier had her 6 months, i've done one track day, and Castle Combe coming up..
Is it easy to replace? can i do it myself? which oil is recommended.

Is there anything else i should be doing after 6months of soft driving?

replies on a postcard please!

Thanks guys and Girls

Colie,
I advise my customers 2 change ALL transmission oils at 10-12 k mile intervals , except AYC , do that at 6 k intervals.

Use the best quality synthetic oils , I use and supply Redline , cud do U a package deal on all U need 2 change gearbox , transfer case and rear diff if that helps , shall I email U ?

Quantities R :-

Gearbox , 2.8 ltrs , GL4 spec , 75-85w

Transfer case , GL5 spec , 75-85w (can b 75-90) 0.62 ltrs

Rear diff , as transfer except , 0.41 ltr.

How R U feeling now after the prang ?

Evoboy,

cheers bud,

yeah, if you would e-mail me delivered prices that would be great!

The prang..hmmm...

got used to it now...sort of....i think it's because i know it will be repaired.
New wing and door. pain in the ass.

I thought it was going in next week but they told me a couple of days ago that it needs to assessed by the insurance inspector  on Wednesday next :( which means it won't be repaired in time for Castle Combe on the 27th....
still won't stop me driving my beast:).

Is it difficult to change the oil on these parts? and would i need any special sealing washers, like the engine oil plug has?

Cheers

Colie

Colie,

Change the AYC oil every 4500 max on an Evo4 and always before a track day ! You don't need to bleed the AYC before the track but change the ayc oil in the diff. Evo 4s have a bit of a problem with low quality linings in the AYC unit. They are a little soft and tend to wear. I had to change my E4 diff for an E6 diff cos it started squawking ! This can be avoided with VERY regular maintainance.
